It goes to show how out of touch most people are when they think solving pure math conjectures has the same purpose as finding cures to diseases
I think it’s safe to say these people live in a different planet of their own delusion

🚨RANK 31 🚨
Ava Howell has submitted an elliptic curve of rank 31!

Major update on elliptic curve rank records! Rank 30 has been found by mysterious ranksunbounded user! Lower bound is unconditional - 30 explicit linearly independent points. Upper bound 30 proved under GRH assumption via Bober's method. What an epic news and congratulations to the record owner!
Here is another awesome challenge for your brain and AI. Find an elliptic curve with at least 30 independent points. Notice that the rank records have been increasing since the 1930s. But recently we see the law of diminishing returns. The problem is so hard that the record curve is way past its inflection point (1988). Or it seems so. So stop looking for crazy conjectures, find a higher rank or show it's impossible. Real math fame involved!

Simple!
Apery’s proof that ζ(3) is irrational can be modified to show that ζ(2)=π²/6 is irrational, by constructing sequences of integers Aₙ and Bₙ
0 ≠ ζ(2)-Aₙ/Bₙ = ο(1/Bₙ)
from which it follows that π² is irrational and hence π is irrational.

Mind blown.. Germany’s 5 biggest cities lie perfectly on a 4th-degree polynomial

Hot take: The First Isomorphism Theorem deserves to be called the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra.
It’s true for Groups, Rings, Modules, Lie Algebras. It even underpins Rank–Nullity in Linear Algebra, and quotient spaces in topology. It’s in the DNA of algebraic structure itself

🧵 My 3rd book is now out! It is on the fascinating history of math.
How did people throughout history think about math? What problems did they care about? How did they express them? How were they solved?
This book includes a lot of historical math.
