Wisconsin approves Shot Clock. Michigan- our clock is ticking. Let’s do what our kids and our game deserve.
APPROVED – BASKETBALL:
The Board of Control approved the implementation of a 35-second shot clock for boys and girls varsity basketball, beginning with the 2028-29 season. (Vote 10-1)
This will now go to a full membership vote at the 2027 Annual Meeting for final approval prior to implementation, due to the cost imposed on member schools. 🏀 #wiaagb #wiaabb

Two people working the table.
One person handling the book for both teams, and the other managing both the game clock and shot clock at the same time.
After watching four games yesterday, zero issues.
@MHSAA @MIAAAADs @BCAMCoaches
Resharing with recent news out of Ohio, Indiana, New Jersey, and North Carolina. State leaders need to reshape their thinking on why we want the shot clock. It is a teaching tool, our coaches (experts) believe it is what’s best for the game and for the kids that play it!

As an AD, my job is to bring in and retain coaches who can build, develop, and win. At the same time, good coaches want to be in environments where they have a real opportunity to succeed.
If a school’s vision does not prioritize winning or fails to provide the tools, support, and structure needed for success, it will struggle to attract and retain high level coaches. Talented coaches are intentional about where they invest their time and energy.
Winning is not about cutting corners or doing it at all costs. It is about alignment. When you have strong coaches, the right resources, and a clear commitment to success, those pieces work together. When everyone is not aligned, the culture is poisoned. That alignment is what builds a sustainable, competitive program.
We have been in communication with the IBCA through out their entire proposal process which looks a lot like Michigans. They have very similar data with coach and AD support in their state. Glad their state association is voting on it.
The magic of Northern Michigan! Thanks @AnnaBritnell for letting me play a small part in that trip! Great seeing the staff and players in August and seeing that impact in March!
All 16 players slept on cots. They rode ATVs, jet skis, roasted marshmallows and played NBA 2K until 5am.
A new group, Michigan knew it had to bond off the court to succeed on it.
This is the story of how U-M’s magical season began with a trip up north.

This is a GREAT video!! Well done BCAM👏
You know there are people with 3,768 less wins than the coaches in the video, that think they know better what’s best for the game and that the shot clock is bad for HS basketball🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I actually got to sit down on a podcast recently and talk through many things, including shot clock.
Shot conversation starts at the 23:35 mark

Consistent with every other state I have talked to has has adopted shot clock! “we should have done this sooner…” “we will never go back..” etc.
Replying to @MattWindle1 @coachrickp1
Year 1 fully in for 4A-6A in Kansas. Don’t know any coach against it now. The concern some had was taking away “strategy.” They found it actually increased strategy. Can stick with a conservative defense longer if behind. Can still “burn” time, just with a late clock plan. Etc.

I have had thousands of conversations about shot clock across the country in the last calendar year.
To those opposed to it, I simply ask you to read our proposal and give me a reason why it’s not good for kids or for the game of basketball in our state.

We will be building additional resources and data on the BCAM website. Coming soon…
