In the USA, anyone can register for free advance screenings of many unreleased films, particularly small- to mid-range productions.

Thatβs exactly the kind of impression you tried to create in Sony Picturesβ Ramayana case.
Check these real examples:
1. Robert De Niroβs Focker In-Law : Releasing November 25, with a free advance screening listed for November 4 in Atlanta. GOFOBO site provides listings of these early screenings.
2. Warner Bros.β The Cat in the Hat ' Free advance screenings are advertised well before its theatrical release.
3. " Eternity " Free screening registrations have also been done.
4. Warner Bros. Screenings You can register through its screening website and receive free passes to upcoming films when available.
5. Sony Pictures also arranged advance screenings for the English dubbed, trimmed version of #Ramayana, a relatively small release for the studio. Despite many email registrations nobody cared it in NY City.

Registering for a free screening is way different than Claiming the studio personally invited you as a critic is an entirely different thing!

The USA Premiere: #Ramayana controversy
1. Telugu X handle Venky claimed the NYC screening was βcritic invite only,β presenting as if he is an exclusive select invitees as a critic. (The Los Angeles show was the actual world premiere.)
2. Our inquiries did not identify any Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, or other Indian media outlets or Influencers directly invited by the studio to the NYC screening. Naturally, we questioned his claim and asked for evidence.
3. His evidence? A Sony Pictures email titled βNY Critics Invite.β
The email supports his ticket to the show. But it does NOT establishwhether he personally received a professional invitation from Sony. Those are separate claims requiring separate evidence.
Sony also operates advance screening registration portals (link in screenshot). Whether this particular screening was accessible through such registration remains the relevant question.
4. We NEVER denied he watched the film. We even acknowledged that the photo timestamp discrepancy could be explained by a picture taken during the end credits. (See our original post.). In thr past he had proven evidence history of posting reviews without even watching.
Our question was about his βcritic invite onlyβ claim as if Sony invited him as critic, NOT whether he watched Ramayana.
A ticket confirmation invite email Vs an exclusive professional invitation are NOT the same thing.
The evidence presented "so far" does not settle that distinction. That was our question from the beginning, and it remains unanswered.
