I generally avoid politics here, but I can tell you with certainty that the five & a half million #selfemployed people in the UK will look back on this moment & remember how the government has done sweet fuck all for them.

The Government has announced plans to impose a catastrophic 50% funding cut to arts subjects at higher education (HE) level in England, including music.
Have your say in the consultation before 6 May 👇

They expect professional #musicians to work for nothing at a profit-making event when the music industry has been decimated. It costs £20 to hire a BLANKET for this event. But perhaps caterers etc. are also paid in picnic hampers?

Pink/unicorns/hearts/rainbows/'Sweet Dreams' = girls & blue/sharks/football/robots/'Wake Up Awesome' = boys @BnMstores.
Girls don't get real stuff, only myths & dreams. Boys get the real world.

Holy crap, @FromPaperchase is really circling the drain if this egregious grammatical error has been greenlighted. Not to mention the total lack of punctuation.
Clothes manufacturers, please take note.
What women want: pockets they can use
Despite what some clothing manufacturers claim, across all items of clothing we asked about women (and especially younger women) were more likely than not to say they want functional pockets

Yet another example of the destruction of performing arts.
I'm one of many who've worked with @AnnaJaneCasey & it's extraordinary to think of this blindingly talented & successful woman in this situation, like so many colleagues & friends.

So very true.

Well played @LidlGB, whose new catalogue for their own wooden toy brand #Playtive features girls with cars, boys with dolls houses and doing ironing, and both having tea together.
And all unisex clothes. No pink and blue anywhere. It’s the future @LetToysBeToys @letclothesbe

Dear @NickGibbUK
We're disappointed to hear @educationgovuk has withdrawn bursaries for music teacher trainees from 2021-22 academic year. Opportunities to teach and access #MusicEducation should be at the heart of our schools curriculum & gov policy.

How about using some of that money to bring back the orchestras & musicians that were so outrageously sacked after their huge contribution to your public profile & decades of loyalty.

We were thrilled to hear we have received funding thanks to the government’s #Culture Recovery Fund so that we can continue to be here for you and #HereForCulture. Funds will help us maintain our historic building, reopen our Crypt safely and rebuild our much-loved music.

Following yesterday's very impressive protest by @WeAreTheMU in Parliament Square I have written to the Chancellor demanding fairness in the Government's treatment of musicians and other freelancers in the creative industries suffering due to Covid-19 #letmusiclive #WeMakeEvents

Today we started our campaign outside Parliament to ask for targeted investment.
Arts sector makes £10.8bn, events makes £84bn. For every £1 spent on us, £2 is spent on wider economy. Yet 87% of musicians are facing hardship, 1/3 are #excludeduk from support.

400 socially-distanced musicians play outside the Houses of Parliament in a powerful musical protest. 🎶 📣

This is what musicians can achieve in just a week of organising on our own. Safe, structured, socially distanced performance of 400 people. What else can we achieve if given the chance. Dear @RishiSunak @OliverDowden we are viable! #letmusiclive #wemakeevents
