Vice President JD Vance called Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed a “psychopath” on Tuesday while speaking to reporters before departing for a campaign event in Michigan.
Vance was traveling to the state to campaign for Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers when he launched into a series of attacks against El-Sayed, accusing him of promoting racial hatred and associating with people who justify violence against the United States.
Asked whether he agreed with President Trump’s characterization of El-Sayed as a “jihadist,” Vance stopped short of repeating the accusation, saying he didn’t know what was in the candidate’s heart but claimed he had “a lot of weird friends.”
