The budget has left the wealthy relatively unscathed. Neoliberals are targeting deep social security cuts. Will increase poverty & misery. This graph shows total UK welfare spending as a percentage of GDP, 2013/14 to 2030/31 (spending and forecast) lordslibrary.parliament.uk/w

Burnham claims to be a man of the people, but his government’s first budget reveals that he has little understanding of how bad things really are. The average household has experienced more than a decade of stagnation, and they don’t see an end in sight. tribunemag.co.uk/2026/10/the

A meeting was scheduled between @ShabanaMahmood, @AndreaEganGS & Kolade, a Nigerian careworker. Kolade wanted to explain how the changes to the immigration system would impact on people like him. So what did Mahmood do? She banned him from the meeting theguardian.com/uk-news/2026

My country, France, is sinking further each day into a system of governance that is authoritarian and destructive to liberty. Placing activists who oppose their government’s policies under house arrest is an attempt to intimidate and frighten any form of dissent. Equating their activism with terrorism is revolting, scandalous, and reminiscent of the worst authoritarian regimes around the world. Resistance is more necessary than ever to defend the values of liberty and solidarity in our country.

Pensioners won't pay tax on income of £13036. A clawback taper on income between £13036 & £13319. Some to pay marginal tax at 53%. Above £13319, personal allowance of £12570 will apply. Workers on £13036 will pay income tax + NIC. Complex & Divisive. leftfootforward.org/2026/10/

Malm was set to speak at the launch event for Tribune’s latest issue, but has been denied entry to the UK. Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur faced similar treatment under Keir Starmer. Now, under Andy Burnham, the barring of prominent left-wing figures contines. tribunemag.co.uk/2026/10/and

Ffs already missed out on seeing Hasan Piker in London because of this shit. I went online and bought Andreas Malm’s book ‘How to blow up a pipeline’ and will still be going to the talk he was meant to be at because we can’t accept this attack on freedom of speech! Fuck Shabana Mahmood - she is definitely not conducive to the public good.
"Where does it end?" Andreas Malm is an academic & one of the world’s leading climate scholars. The Labour govt has just banned him from coming to the UK to speak at a public event and academic conference. Outrageous. And we're still being told that Burnham represents change.

Britain has a 2-tier tax system. The mega-rich & mega-corporations pay what they want, or what their hot shot accountants & slick privileged lobbyists can't get them out of, whilst the rest of us pick up the bill & prop up the country. Burnham's Budget should've changed that.

DUP stops short of collapsing the Assembly but will block joint FM/dFM engagements and Michelle O’Neill attending any events as First Minister. How does this benefit the people of Northern Ireland? It doesn't.
