Appears the programs are not going to keep the jug but have it as a fan trophy
Glad the Jug's location is accounted for and that it can be exchanged between fan bases but this still reeks of pettiness, namely from UMass
On the UConn campus. Was asked to meet @CoachCandle before his media avail. Was prepared to get yelled at for losing the Southwick Jug but it worked out better than that

High key @Learfield is one of the worst things about college athletics
I’m going to go out on a limb with my theory on the trophy and this is pretty likely IMO.
UMass has a sponsored trophy game with Buffalo. Learfield is very protective of their assets and potential inventory.
Another trophy, of which has been talked about much more and not sponsored, would devalue the sponsorship sold by UMass Learfield.
Both schools are refusing to acknowledge the trophy. Why would you let fans have something of intrinsic value? Everything needs to be sold… even if there’s nothing to sell.

Hard to pick what's worse, the UMass/UConn admins' inability to follow through on what they claimed the roadblocks were to a trophy game or their absurd, vindictive pride that prevents them from just using the 🏆 that's literally available to them already that people love

The Southwick Jug, the rivalry trophy for The U Game, will be in attendance as well and hopefully both schools and their athletic administrations will finally pull their collective heads from their asses and put the trophy into circulation, sponsored or not
