MCFN is still fighting for our state government transparency systems!
You can help our mission by sharing our investigation with state legislators and executive officers.
Let's keep the pressure on MDOS and Tyler Technologies to fix these problems!

Government accountability depends on #transparency in our #campaignfinance system. That's why a dozen organizations are urging @KamalaHarris & @realDonaldTrump to disclose information about their campaign bundlers before Election Day issueone.org/press/crosspartโฆ

The first bill of a 4-bill financial disclosure package passed the House 59-49, with a combination of Democratic and Republican support. The bill was on the vote board for about 40 minutes.
Rep. Betsy Coffia, D-Traverse City, did not vote.

Twenty minutes into the roll call vote on the main financial disclosure bill, it is one vote short of passage. Forty-two Dems and 13 Republicans voting yes.

Not a single Democrat spoke to the financial disclosure package, while a few Republicans chastised its shortcomings. Up for a vote now.

House leadership rejects several other amendments offered by Democratic members that would strengthen the financial disclosures required for elected officials and candidates.

How some Democratsโ hopes for more expansive financial disclosure requirements are going:
Michigan Campaign Finance Network ๐ retweeted
One of the changes pro-expanded disclosure Democrats are seeking is to bar politicians from being seated if they fail to fill out a disclosure. Current proposal is a small fine.
Sen. Sam Singh has said that would come in a trailer bill but some legislators are pushing for it now
Michigan Campaign Finance Network ๐ retweeted
If House Democratic leadership granted the amendments, it appears likely they'd have the votes to pass the bills.

The House is aiming (hoping) to take the Senateโs package of financial disclosure bills up for a vote later today, Iโm told.
Progressives have proposed 20 amendments expanding disclosure requirements between SBs 613-614. Republicans just introduced another 8.
