YouTube plans to introduce AB testing for videos. I agree with many others that this is a bad idea. Maybe you squeeze out some more watch time in the short term, but undermining a sense of a shared viewing experience among the audience is too steep a price.

While walking to work, I just had a chat with ChatGPT to make sure I understood what the claimed singular solution to Navier-Stokes would mean *physically.* Here's a tweet thread it generated for me. Hope you find it helpful. (I rewrote it a bit to clarify what's surprising.)

The news today of progress on resolving the Navier–Stokes problem, one of mathematics’ great longstanding challenges concerning the equations that govern the flow of fluids, represents a milestone advance in human knowledge. This story began with Navier, Stokes, Leray, and Ladyzhenskaya and has culminated in the recent breakthroughs of Córdoba and Martínez-Zoroa, then — assisted by new technologies — Alpöge and Buckmaster, with the final steps taken by OpenAI mathematicians. The purpose of mathematics is human understanding, and this achievement, and the process that led to it, will bear fruit for a long time to come. Today I join others from across our game and call for Gianni Infantino to resign as FIFA President. Infantino has debased the office that he promised to elevate. He has lied, deceived and tried to feather his own nest at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve.  He has lost the support of his senior staff, his closest advisers, the vast majority of people who devote their lives to this sport and even, it would seem, the FIFA Peace Prize winner.  It is too late to save his dignity but it is not too late to save football. He should go. Now. #Infantinout dailymail.com/sport/football…

Concacaf, the confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean, says it rejects FIFA’s plans to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors. All 41 members of Concacaf met on Thursday to discuss the proposals. One source with knowledge of the meeting, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, said the feeling and discussion expressed among the vast majority of Concacaf members was that they are losing confidence, or have lost confidence altogether in Gianni Infantino as FIFA President. A second person considered that to be a slightly stronger description of the meeting than they took away from it, but acknowledged widespread concerns over the current FIFA approach to leadership and transparency. We’re sanctioning Russia at speed and scale. Today’s measures, together with the upcoming 21st sanctions package, will add 250 individuals and entities to the Russia sanctions regime. This is our biggest round of individual designations since Moscow’s 2022 full-scale invasion, and includes also the EU’s largest-ever cyber sanctions package. The financial backbone of Russia’s war machine is the main target. Every measure weakens Moscow’s ability to wage war. My doorstep ahead of today’s Foreign Affairs Council ↓

If we're rewriting football history now, I have a small suggestion: I'd like FIFA to rescind the yellow card shown to Michael Ballack in the 2002 World Cup semifinal, the one that ruled him out of the final. And while we're at it, we might as well replay the final against Brazil.

Imagine corrupting the entire World Cup to get your best striker back in the team for him to barely touch the ball and to then get battered by a honking Belgian team. Good process lads
