Amy Acton's stepfather's surviving biological daughter spoke to The Daily Mail when they knocked on her door in Ohio, while sobbing.
She said: She believed Amy's story, because her father raped her sister more than once (the victim in this 1974 indictment); she remembered Amy lived in a tent with Donna and Cledith; it's been terrible for her family to see Vivek's ad run in Ohio; and she heard rumors her father had victimized even more young girls.
NEW: I obtained the full Trumbull County file for Amy Acton's stepfather's 1974 charge which shows that he was indicted for incest involving his 16-year-old biological daughter in 1973. The sheriff was then unable to locate him to serve him a summons in the county and nothing further happened in the case.
Donna Arthur, featured in Vivek Ramaswamy's still-running campaign ad, married Cledith the next year in a neighboring county.

Look I’m a huge defender of golf courses despite their inefficiency of land use. I’ll even defend private courses. But there’s something about the fact that this is DC — and a multi-use park, not just a current golf course — that makes this incredibly gross. Shameful development.

Dear @SenWhitehouse and @SenatorHeinrich, are you going to allow your bill to harm DC like this?
There’s a bill in Congress right now, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026, that would make it almost impossible to stop what’s happening at East Potomac.
It would let federal agencies unilaterally decide historic preservation doesn’t matter, narrow what even counts as “harm” to a historic place, and strip courts of the power to meaningfully review agency decisions.
This is the exact playbook NPS has already used at East Potomac. Rushed paperwork. A 7 year old report used as cover. A claim of “no adverse effect” that doesn’t survive basic scrutiny.
If this bill passes, the legal fight that’s currently working, the one that got a judge to stop the bulldozers, becomes a lot harder to win, for this park and every historic place in the country.
East Potomac isn’t an isolated story. It’s a preview.
Call your senators. Tell them to oppose the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 as written.

Per NPS testimony, the cut trees were healthy and not a safety hazard. East Potomac is an affordable public course (weekday 18-hole ~$40–48, juniors as low as $9, Youth on Course $5) with short courses for beginners. The nonprofit renovating it while keeping fees low had its lease terminated (it disputes the reasons). No plan locks in continued low rates or public access. Dedicated parkland isn’t private property that can be unilaterally converted into a championship course.
