I once asked my mom why she divorced my dad. She told me, “I was sick all week, and one morning your dad woke me up asking what I was making for breakfast. I told him I felt awful and needed sleep. He made breakfast for himself and never asked if I wanted anything.” It wasn’t the breakfast, she said. It was realizing that if she didn’t take care of herself, nobody would notice. That stayed with me. I realized people rarely leave because of one terrible moment. Sometimes they leave because of a thousand tiny moments that quietly convince them they’re alone.

i just saw a woman say: “isn’t it strange that we were taught to fear the witches, but not the men who burned them?” and honestly… that stopped me in my tracks.

A school board member at my daughter's school doesn't want the senior class to go on this trip because Jesus would not approve. So, I want to raise money to send even more kids. I would love your help.

Melani is back with another We Do Not Care Club announcement. Given the week I have had, this is the kind of medicine I needed. Laughter brings joy in the darkest of times. ❤️🙏 #WDNC

I hope you saw my posts last night and were able to get some shots of the amazing northern lights display. It was incredible - and went on for a long time. – at Greece, NY

This may sound utopian but school would be much improved if it mostly consisted of reading books and having discussions. No exams, no grades, you just read a million books and chat about them. There is no better way to educate someone than to make them a voracious reader.

It is so criminal to deny anyone language, but to deny it to them in their formative years when it's the only way to communicate is child abuse.

A true story. Parent: "We don't use sign language because he want him to learn how to use his new ears (cochlear implants) so he can learn how to enjoy music like we do. So he can talk like us." Me: "We're sitting in a hospital. I was called here to help interpret for your son. I had to use drawings, pictures, and gestures because he can't sign... nor speak." Parent: "He will be able to ...talk...someday." Me: "He's 3 years old, and he had a broken rib for a week. He couldn't tell you what was wrong." Parent: "He will... talk...someday."

🚨 BREAKING: ICE secretly deported Luis Leon, an 82-year-old torture survivor and U.S. legal resident of nearly 40 years, after he walked into an immigration office to replace a lost green card. Instead of processing the request, ICE handcuffed him, detained his wife for 10 hours, and later told the family; through a fake “lawyer,” that he was dead. Turns out, ICE quietly transferred him through a Minnesota detention center and dumped him in Guatemala, a country he has zero ties to. There’s no deportation paperwork, no public record. His family only found him alive after relatives in Chile tracked him to a Guatemalan hospital. Leon suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart issues. The DOJ is now under fire, but this is the Trump-era immigration machine still in motion—cruel, unaccountable, and lawless. If they can disappear an elderly, law-abiding U.S. resident… They can disappear anyone.

Watched the movies Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick? The first Top Gun competition was held in 1949. The white pilots competed with the latest state of art aircraft while the black pilots were forced to compete with older obsolete planes. After 3 days of competition The Tuskegee Airmen team of : Captain Alva Temple, 1st Lieutenant Harry Stewart, 1st Lieutenant James Harvey, and 1st Lieutenant Halbert Alexander (alternate) were announced the winners. The official results for first place were recorded as “unknown” for nearly 46 years. There was dead silence in the room. Not one of their colleagues applauded this accomplishment. The victory was swept under the rug and the trophy ‘went missing’ and was not seen by the public for 55 years (until 2004). Introducing the real Top Guns. 73 years after the historic win, the American Association of Retired Persons’ Wish of a Lifetime organization met with Harvey to grant his “wish” – that his team be widely recognized.

i once worked as a live-in nanny for 3 small kids in hawaii. the parents were burnt out and didn’t really like parenting. they had 2 nannies covering 7am-8pm 7 days a week. the dad worked a few hours a day and the mom didn’t work. years later i saw the dad had started a blog about parenting and financial independence. in the blog he said that self-employment was important to him bc it allowed him to spend all of his time with his kids. he said that in over a decade of parenting, he’d never so much as hired a babysitter for his kids. anyway, there’s a good chance ppl trying to sell you some lifestyle thing are lying thru their teeth.
