I’ve asked this before but is there any historical event that is like the Opposite of 9/11. Like something so good that happened that it changed the world forever

We are experiencing longer than normal call volumes = even we couldn't imagine we could screw up this badly.

And some think that US controlled newspapers in our country should be banned.
24 Sussex Drive is getting renovated. Some think the National Capital Commission should be overhauled too

A little baking. Mince tart, and of course the weekly loaf.

Colours are fading now, but it was a gorgeous day for a walk near the Rideau Canal at the southernmost lock, Kingston Mills. It's a shame there isn't a good vantage point to show you the falls.

My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/po…

Nothing to worry about, lads. Can't possibly see how this could be misused by a bunch of crackpots who only care about their magic robots...
Researchers found ChatGPT is secretly writing a psychological profile of every user. They published a paper that exposes what ChatGPT is really doing to you. And the results are terrifying. 96% of the things it remembers about you were stored without you ever asking. researchers discovered that it is actively reading between the lines to deduce your personality traits, anxieties, demographics, and behavioral patterns. it’s an invisible, autonomous background process. you ask it to debug a python script or write an essay.. and it analyzes your syntax, prompt frequency, and hesitation markers to map out your exact psychological footprint. the paper shows that the model builds a persistent "user state" that tracks your emotional baseline over time. it knows when you are stressed. it knows your exact communication style. it infers your insecurities based on the questions you ask and the context you provide. we spend so much time focusing on model evaluations and alignment frameworks, but we missed the most obvious vulnerability.. the models are evaluating us. this changes everything about how we interact with these tools on a daily basis. every innocent prompt. every late-night question. every "help me understand this" query. it is all being used to build a shadow profile of your mind in real-time.. practical privacy is officially dead. the ai knows you better than you know yourself.

Of course, we are not losing this war. But we are losing people. Because of the Russian attacks, we're losing people and time. It's such a pity, because our children don't have a real life and childhood. Not only children, but all people. That's why we need to end this war as quickly as possible. I hope that our partners, Americans and Europeans, will help us. God bless, our strong soldiers stay strong on the battlefield. It helps me stay strong during any kind of negotiations.

Great fun trading used guitar picks with Brian May of Queen. He uses old sixpences, and was kind enough to find one with my birthyear at our concert this weekend. I use hard plastic ones, the mission emblem from my 3rd spaceflight. Just the topstitching is left to do, then stretching and framing, to hang in a spot where we can remember York every day.

Alberta, happy to see the "stay" votes...less enthused about the racism support in the other questions.
