just finished @SimoneHCollins's Pragmatist's Guide to Life; have some thoughts (this isn't exactly a structured review) BLUF: short and sweet; not perfect, but absolutely worth the buck I dropped on the Kindle version. especially if you find yourself aimless, going through the method is worth doing at least as a starting point. the concept of a personal objective function is brilliant for cutting through "what do I want to do with my life" decision chaff; Part I, by itself, would have been worth the buck the only reason I didn't get as much value out of Part II as I should have is because I already had a working epistemology for building what the book calls an ideological tree I'm not gonna lie, Part III was kinda muddy to me, seemingly trying to explain their (probably correct) self-image model of psychology and be a shorter Atomic Habits at the same time; there's a lot of good stuff in there, but I didn't follow the throughline, if one there was — though this might change after I double back on it Part IV, though, was surprisingly helpful in refining a social persona into something more useful and less fraudulent still working on Pragmatist's Guide to Crafting Religion; I actually bought it as information for making fictional cultures in my ongoing science fiction project, but instead I found out I'm a temperamental Calvinist —somehow (I grew up Catholic)
