Get off your butts Australia. Change can be made.
🇷🇸 🚨 BREAKING: Serbia's Aleksandar Vučić has conceded defeat to the student-led movement that has spent nearly two years in the streets trying to oust him.
"Based on the sample, it is clear that we have lost these elections," Vučić said at his party's headquarters. He put the Student List at about 2.2 million votes to 1.72 million for his bloc. That works out to 130 to 140 of parliament's 250 seats, a clear majority. Official results are pending.
Vučić has ruled Serbia as prime minister or president since 2014. In that time his party took over state institutions, and he was accused of muzzling critical media. He resigned the presidency last month to run for prime minister.
The movement erupted in November 2024, after a newly renovated train station canopy collapsed in Novi Sad, Serbia's second-largest city, and killed 16 people. Students blamed corruption and rallied behind the cry "Pumpaj," Serbian for "pump it," meaning keep up the pressure.

Sunday evening rant:
Mainstream politics has gotta stop telling people how they should feel, and criticising them for how they actually feel.
That's *literally* what gave birth to Trumpism, and is boosting ON.
If you won't *act* to help them, don't be surprised by their vote.
forbes.com/sites/jimdobson/2… Well, that was interesting. Is Trump wearing a ballistic suit.

The reality of the "independent" review telling every school in England to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism: its author, Sir David Bell, was being paid by a government agency while he wrote it, and a pro-Israel charity has listed him on its council for ten years.
The government told the public he was "independent of Government" and had "no conflict of interest". Neither is true.
What we found:
- Bell was paid £20,000 a year as vice-chair of Skills England, a government agency, in a seat the Department for Education gave him. He held it until August, through most of the review.
- The Academic Study Group on Israel and the Middle East has listed him on its council since at least 2016. Its website says its one firm policy is opposing boycotts of Israel. It gives talks on Israel in schools, which is exactly what his review was asked to judge.
- In 2005, as chief inspector of schools, he singled out Muslim schools as a challenge to "our coherence as a nation". The chairman of the Association of Muslim Schools called it Islamophobia, and his own inspectors said he had presented a personal view as inspection evidence.
Then we followed the money:
- The department's £1.3 million antisemitism training contract had one bidder, according to the tender record. It went to Palace Yard, a company set up in 2022 by the former Labour MP Natascha Engel.
- That contract says all its training must use the IHRA definition "as a foundation". It was signed eight months before Bell was appointed. His review then recommended IHRA.
- Two of the people who advised Bell, from Partnerships for Jewish Schools and the Antisemitism Policy Trust, now sit on the group putting his recommendations into practice.
- The Union of Jewish Students, also on that group, holds a contract worth almost £1 million to train universities. Its own policies include "UJS to advocate for Israel within UK Policy and International Law".
- UK Lawyers for Israel* (UKLFI) and the Campaign Against Antisemitism* (CAA) both say the review adopted their recommendations.
*For context, UKLFI once justified the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli occupation as "good for obesity". Both these groups have staunchly defended Israel throughout its perpetration of a genocide in Gaza, and regularly conflate Jewish people with the apartheid state.
This matters because the review decides how every school treats what pupils and teachers say about Israel, and the IHRA definition it recommends treats some criticism of Israel as antisemitic. A review with that power should come from someone with no pay from government and no tie to a pro-Israel charity. Bell had both. The government put one in a footnote and left the other out.
We mapped every link, each with its source, explaining just how far this review is from "independent": newscord.org/editorials/davi…

Here it is in a nutshell.
The #NACC is - as I keep yelling - not a corruption investigation unit at all. It's not.
It's a public-service, education & teaching unit.
A very expensive $80 million a year one, that does no corruption investigation at all but instead, 'educates'.
"Hopes that the NACC might be resucitated by a change of leadership have been dashed", writes @MichaelPascoe01

Oh whoops.
Honest cop reveals that the Government’s *antisemitic* claims were wrong.
‘Deputy police commissioner states Premier Minns and Minister Catley incorrectly told the public that there had been “700 instances of antisemitic attacks”.
‘Hudson told the inquiry that figure included both antisemitic and Islamophobic incidents since 11 October 2023.
‘Catley last month said that “there have been more than 700 antisemitic events and incidents and arrests in this city”.
‘The following day, Minns said: “There have been 700 instances of antisemitic attacks over the summer.”
‘Thurtell confirmed during the hearing that of the 700 incidents just “40-odd percent” were antisemitic. [the others classed as Islamophobic or “other”]

@AlboMP @OpenAI Was OpenAI’s AI agent also gathering public medicine spending data from other countries? If so, which ones? If not, why was Australia specifically selected, and who decided the agent should access Australian government websites?
Australia said an OpenAI agent breached a government health data portal in June, gaining unauthorized access to files, in what could be the first known instance of an AI agent hacking a government website. Here’s what we know reut.rs/4iLTEDA
