I'm just wondering where that money will go next? It has been an unquenchable and destructive bubble under the carpet since 2000.
AI bubble just popped.

IPAS was always a property scam. State money used, initially, to rescue those friends of the government still struggling with debts from the Crash, then everyone wanted a go, and it became a free for all. If you thought IPAS was genuinely doing good in the world, you were had.

This is madness. Our strongest suit in International Peacekeeping is that our Nation was Colonised and remains partitioned. We are now seeing a hop skip and a jump to standing beside the nations of Sykes/Picot that colonised and partitioned the Middle East/West Asia. Náireach.

Why single China out? OK, it's one of the largest economies in the world snd has been following this demented policy because like all engineers & communists it thinks that the market & reality can be beaten and it has got many others to do likewise. But apart from that...
China‘s earnings estimates do precisely what I expected it to do: they collapse. For instance, battery giant CATL started Q3 earnings season with a big miss. Why? Because the CCP’s investment-led growth model continues to create overcapacity everywhere which leads to a race-to-the-bottom mentality among companies fighting for survival by lowering prices for everything - a deflationary spiral. Meanwhile consumer demand collapsed as China remains in the middle of a prolonged balance sheet recession as explained below due to its property bust. It’s a toxic cocktail of a protracted consumption slump and a race-to-the-bottom mentality among businesses across industries - a disaster.

Franco would have just been sitting there thinking of the Peninsula War, and how Spain could have been used by the Allies to prosecute another one. He'd have been nuts to go along with Hitler, and he didn't.
Franco made the Führer wait. October 23, 1940, Hendaye station. Hitler’s train sat on the Spanish-French border while Franco’s was still rolling. When the Caudillo finally arrived, the most powerful man in Europe had already been left cooling his heels. The meeting that followed dragged on for nine hours of circular demands, territorial shopping lists, & polite obstruction. Hitler wanted Spain in the war, Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, a southern flank against Britain. Franco wanted grain, oil, French North Africa, & time. He got the last of those. On paper Franco was prepared to honor the war. He had accepted Axis aid during the Civil War, shared anti-communist rhetoric, & kept the door open. In practice he treated the alliance as a transaction he had no intention of completing on Hitler’s terms. Spain was exhausted, its army thin, its ports vulnerable. Joining would have been suicide dressed as gratitude. What made the stall personal, not merely strategic, was the deeper contempt. Franco was a devout Catholic who had built his regime on the Church. Hitler’s private remarks about Christianity, his open scorn for its “Jewish” origins, its universalism, its refusal to kneel to race, were known in Madrid. Franco had no interest in subordinating Catholic Spain to a movement that treated the faith as an obstacle or a temporary tool. The waiting, the endless conditions, the refusal to commit: these were not only military prudence. They were the behavior of a man who disliked the person across the table & saw no reason to hurry into his war. Hitler left furious. He later said he would rather have several teeth pulled than negotiate with Franco again. Spain stayed out. Gibraltar stayed British. The meeting at Hendaye remains one of the cleaner examples of a weaker power using delay, faith, & national interest to refuse a stronger one, without ever quite saying no.

For those who like your history neatly divided into left & right, and races, as I believe that Hitler did, this may seem puzzling, but anyone who has seen their own land at war and the price of it (as Franco had, but because of the way WWI ended, Hitler hadn't) will get it.

I'm not entirely sure that they are. After all, the left are also the establishment. How does one rebel against oneself? Is what is happening in France simply a left wing version of The Purge? A catharsis so that police can beat up on the people who need them but sneer at them?
For all the hand wringing about the ‘far right’, it turns out the far left is a real danger to society. This week’s @Independent_ie column independent.ie/comment/eoin-…

You'd be forgiven for thinking that the law says 'No Irish troops shall deploy without Russian authorisation'. It doesn't. There is no veto on deployment. There is a safeguard called the Triple Lock. It aligns deployment with international law. That's all.
The Triple Lock Reformed Ireland must be able to make our own democratic decisions on where we deploy our peacekeepers, not be vetoed by Russia or any other country.
