Getting ready to refresh content for #BackToSchool? If you’re not talking media literacy and research using TikTok or Instagram, you’re missing almost half your kids. Did Google just become the modern hard-backed encyclopedia? #edutwitter #librarians
As an elder millennial who came of age when Google became a verb, I had difficulty grasping that ~40% of Gen Zers use TikTok for search. So I hosted a mini-focus group with Gen Zers to learn more. Here are 3 takeaways:

To my Minnesotans who need a little humor in their life this week - here’s a thread that will ring oh, so true.
MINNEAPOLIS GOTHIC 35W is under construction. 35W has always been under construction. Your friend’s mother says she remembers driving the entire stretch once, long ago. You don’t believe her. a squirrel tries to make eye contact with you. You know better than to acknowledge it.

I see the windows, mirrors and sliding glass doors metaphor used all the time without citation. So thankful to @k_shelton for citing Dr. Sims-Bishop! Citing all scholars, but BIPOC scholars in particular, is so important! #NCCE22 Did you know other scholars have added to this...

As we are assessing, are we doing so knowing the whole student? Hearing from our scholars? I rarely tear-up when reading tweets, but this one hit. Hard.
“A fish out of water.” I had students share a reflection after the latest Unit Test. This one will sit with me for too long.
Time to dig into the law with Federal and State Advocacy for School Libraries: New Challenge and Opportunities. #AASL21 #BringItOn
Couldn't get into session on Empowering ELLs for Self Sufficiency in the Library? Click into the Stacy Kottkamp's biography from the event guide - she included her presentation link (check every picture - there are LOADS of hyperlinks). #ThankYou #AASL21

School libraries are not neutral spaces, but empower our student voices. @meg_allison has a tough question to discuss. Reinforced @omekongo's opening keynote - we all need to do the work. #AASL2021 #SLCoreValues

We shifted from church to a poetry slam with the school librarians giving snaps of agreement while listening to @meg_allison talk about inclusion in practice. Please remove fines for lost books - stop retraumatizing/shaming our students in poverty. #aasl21 #SLCoreValues

Feel as though I'm at church with all the "mmhmms" and head nodding. @BespokeLib bringing it with her talk of Diversity in Practice. Let's crowd-source: What plot-driven adventures across identities do you have in your school's collection? Which #ownvoices? #AASL21

Digging into Guided Inquiry with @lucysantosgreen & @hThore1 at #AASL21 Love the reinforcement that school librarians/media specialists are trained co-teachers who bring a lot to the table. Can't wait to get a copy of the presentation @lucysantosgreen ! Thank you!
“School librarians see every learner in the building.” Every. Learner. When we talk about wrap around support for students, here it is. No evaluations, no grades, no judgement. It’s called a sanctuary/sacred space/haven for a reason. #aasl21
