Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized. Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”

Many Catholics think of #WorldMission Sunday as a modern Church initiative. In one sense, this is true: this Oct. 18, we're celebrating it for the 100th time. But there are profound Biblical roots for this Catholic day of worldwide prayer and sacrifice! northtexascatholic.org/news/…

Having consecrated the @FWdiocese to the #SacredHeart of Jesus, let us ask Saint Margaret Mary to intercede for us.
Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a nun of the Order of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary: she ran along the way of perfection in an extraordinary manner and, endowed with mystical gifts, she was particularly zealous in her devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, accomplishing much to promote that cult throughout the Church. She fell asleep in the Lord at Paray-le-Monial in the territory of Autun in France, on the seventeenth of October. Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, pray for us!

Please remember to pray for all members of the Carmelite order especially the nuns praying for us in the Carmel of Jesus Crucified in Muenster, Texas. @FWdiocese @NTCatholic @NolanCatholic @UCCatUTA @SMG1200S @cathschlkeller @holytcs @SASFortWorth
Saint Teresa of Jesus, Doctor of the Church: she joined the Carmelite Order at Avila in Spain, and became the mother and teacher of the stricter observance. She envisioned the progress of prayer in her heart as the gradual ascent of the soul towards God, and underwent many trials for the reform of her Order, overcoming them with an undaunted spirit. She also composed works full of the most profound teaching, founded on her own experience. Saint Teresa of Jesus, pray for us!

Let us continue to pray for the complete recovery of Pope Leo XIV. @FWdiocese @NTCatholic @TXCatholic @USCCB
Pope Leo XIV underwent a 90-minute surgery to remove a lung nodule on Oct. 13 which confirmed a diagnosis of lung cancer, the Vatican has announced. Dr. Stefano Margaritora, the hospital's chief thoracic surgeon, led a medical team in the video- assisted technique operation. In a joint statement with Dr. Luigi Carbone released at just before 10 p.m. Rome time, the doctors said that the "examination confirmed the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, as suspected by the preoperative tests." "The Holy Father was in the operating room for about 3 hours; the surgery itself lasted approximately 90 minutes," the statement said. Please join us in continued prayers for the Holy Father 🙏
