Something notable from this chart comparing U.S. COVID wastewater levels by year, is that we've never seen levels this high at this time of the year!

I’m so scared for people. High-risk loved ones have no idea Covid is worse than ever & they’re confident their dramatic coughs cannot possibly be Covid because the CDC says they’re fully-protected. It breaks my heart, but it also makes me so enraged I struggle to contain myself.

Max rainfall in the NYC area, esp. Brooklyn and Queens has been from 6 to just over 8" of rainfall (in Park Slope 2 stations 8"+). So far it is just shy of a 1-in-100 year 24 hour rainfall event but by day's end a few stations may break that threshold.

I’m not sure how widely this is understood. It’s not that the chance of getting sick is actually low now, it’s that our leaders have decided that it’s time for us to just be cool with getting sick a lot now, and we’re all being socially pressured to act like it’s weird not to be.
