Myth: Using UUID as the primary key will slow down inserts. Fact: Not in Postgres. I often recommend using UUIDs instead of integer sequences as primary keys. I was surprised to discover that many developers are uncomfortable with them and believe they will slow down inserts. I was about to record a video explaining why UUIDs are awesome and showing that they do not slow down Postgres. But @hnasr saved me the trouble: youtube.com/watch?v=Y5mWz4vK…

Be honest, do you still use border: 1px solid red; for debugging?

I am always curious about haskell. I feel it’s a language that brought (and brings) a lot of good. I absolutely love @elmlang. And this article I think showed me that Haskell is probably not my cup of tea. But I understand functors now !

Unpopular opinion: People who think engineers would lose their job because ChatGPT can write code, don't really understand how engineering works.

Coming from #js world, now transitioning towards #elmlang, I become obsessed how powerful Elm is by dealing with data modelling with custom types. For example, imagine you are building authentication app, so you have signup, login flow in place with JWT (1/3)

"Nobody uses Rust in production", he emailed (with Thunderbird) from his laptop (running Windows) to a mailing list (on AWS, behind Cloudflare), which I then read (in Firefox) on my phone (running Android) after clicking a link (in Discord) to the list archive (served by Fastly).

Aaron Swartz would have been 36 today. Aaron committed suicide after being sentenced to 35 years in prison by US authorities for transferring and sharing scientific articles from JSTOR.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Swartz was never convicted or sentenced to prison. After declining a plea bargain in which he'd serve six months in jail, he committed suicide before trial. forbes.com/sites/timothyl…

Awesome patterns from @elmlang : sporto.github.io/elm-pattern… If you don't code in Elm, have a look also, you may be able to translate them into your own language to higher safety!
