I've been having way too much fun building little apps just to see how far I can push Jolt π
One of the latest things I've been playing with is gradients. @NativeScript 's CSS only supports static linear gradients, so I added gradient() to Jolt. Native linear, radial and conic gradients, with animatable colors, stops, angles, centers, radius... you name it. And of course, I had to build a bunch of demos to play with it haha.
A few people have asked me if the goal is to make Jolt "better" than React Native's Reanimated.
And honestly, that was never the plan.
I actually come from native development. Objective-C, Swift, Java, Kotlin... Then, somewhere around 2015, I discovered NativeScript and absolutely fell in love with it.
I've worked a lot with React Native, Flutter and other technologies over the years, and I genuinely enjoy them too.
But @NativeScript has always had a special place in my heart. I just want to see it get better and better. And if I can build something that makes developers' lives easier, especially those who think NS is too "verbose" (it's really not π
), then I'm happy to do it.
That being said...
I'm enjoying how Jolt is turning out so much that I'm starting to feel like picking a fight with Reanimated ππ
Just kidding. Or am I? π
Still a long way to go, but man, this has been fun.
Can't wait to share the next demos. There's some really cool stuff coming!

This is the way.
I don't even know how to put this into words.
I've been a huge @NativeScript fan for years, and today my very first PR got merged into the core repo.
Might seem like a small thing, but man, this means so much to me.
Can't stop smiling right now π

Couldn't leave the Nuxt folks out π
vue-router-ns now has @vuejs Router-style config AND @nuxt_js style file routing in @NativeScript. Works with webpack and @vite_js , same native navigation underneath.
Thanks @getcortexlabs for the support! π

A little milestone for me today! π
Just opened my first PR to @NativeScript Core!
Anyone who knows me knows how much I've loved NativeScript for years. Being able to contribute to something I've believed in for so long feels pretty special.
Hopefully the first of many! π

Hey @NativeScript! Quick question: is NativeScript-Vue maintained by your team or independently?
I've opened a PR that fixes a lifecycle issue blocking multi-window support in vue-router-ns. Not sure if I missed anything or who's reviewing PRs these days π
Also been playing around with Jolt! I love animations and wanted to make them easier in NativeScript without sacrificing performance. Still early, lots of issues to tackle, and haven't announced it yet. Just having fun building it π

Delicious π
I just decoupled Nitro from react-native.
The new package "πππππ-ππππ" exposes all portable native APIs, JS bindings and TypeScript types.
This makes it easier for other frameworks (like @LynxJS_org or @NativeScript) to adopt Nitro - all they need is JSI. Almost all JS Runtimes have JSI implementations: Hermes, V8, JSC, SpiderMonkey, Chakra, etc.
We also now test πππππ-ππππ standalone on Hermes, without react-native.
πππππ-ππππππ-πππππ-πππππππ remains inside the repo and stays one of the official targets.
It contains react-native specific setup (like autolinking and .podspec), and react-native specific features like π·π’πππππ
πππ that was previously inside nitro.
As part of this, ππππππππ will receive a plugin system soon so we can fully lift out π·π’πππππ
πππ and other RN specific features.
This could set the foundation for third party language targets (like Rust) too.
Nitro V1 is 70% done and will be a breaking change for library authors.

Been experimenting with turning Nuxt app into actual native mobile app using @NativeScript
The idea is to take an existing Nuxt app and run it natively on iOS/Android, without rewriting everything. Just by adding some directives and composables. Thanks to the work of @triniwiz and his masonkit
Especially considering how this could work with Vue Vapor and its smaller runtime
Still early, but here's the first preview π

What happens when we share a 256-byte C pointer in the same process with Flutter?
β’ Use in Angular templates or mount Angular/UIKit views inside Flutter's UiKitView
β’ 256B shared C-heap buffer (NSMutableData <-> dart:ffi Pointer, 0 GC allocs)
β’ 0 Swift/Kotlin plugin files (100% TypeScript + Dart)
β’ ~7.2 MB Release ARM64 AOT binary delta

How TypeScript and Dart coexist in physical memory:
1. 256B Zero-Copy Bridge: NativeScript pins NSMutableData(256) in C heap; Dart binds via Pointer.fromAddress(addr).asTypedList(64).
2. Angular & UIKit inside Flutter: FlutterPlatformViewFactory implemented 100% in TypeScript mounts native iOS 26 UIGlassEffect & Angular components inside Flutter's UiKitView.
3. 1-Line Signal Sync + AOT Isolates: flutterSignal() binds Angular signals to Flutter ValueNotifiers, while Isolate.run() offloads 2.5M Lorenz steps (~1.2B ops/s) on background ARM64 threads.

I actually started playing with this idea about 6 years ago, but never really took it further.
So here we are again with vue-router-ns!
Still very early, plenty of things missing, but this time I have some pretty cool things in mind.
Here's the first demo π
After spending quite some time just messing around, I've decided to get back to building some cool stuff with @NativeScript .
Let's see what comes out of it... π
