ICYMI--Today is FCSP's last day as part of New America. Thanks to all of our partners and community members over the years. Below, a farewell thread from Justin King. Cheers everyone!
Well, folks, after 13 years, this Friday will be my last day @NewAmerica. First and foremost, I am a stupendously lucky guy and I'm grateful to a million people for helping me have so much fun and working to try to make things a little better for others. 1/

Such an important part of FCSP's vision: "that people living in poverty are experts whose insights need to be cultivated and centered as the bedrock upon which public policy impacting them should be built."

One of the responses that's appropriate here (beyond scorn, and "throw the bums out") is to build new policy mechanisms that strengthen & center the voice of ordinary people, especially users of the safety net who are the target of persistent undemocratic attack.
Extraordinary news from Idaho. In retribution for the successful Medicaid expansion ballot which passed w/ 60%, the Idaho House voted to roll back expansion yesterday and today the Senate did this. Senate OKs bill to make Idaho initiative process tougher apnews.com/de35db6fe5cf42c98…

Wanna see where banks are and where they aren't? How about where post offices are?

.@MehrsaBaradaran: The unbanked and underbanked need a brick and mortar place because they use cash. The @USPS hasn’t left poor areas. Postal banking is not new, but it is a big idea. #BoldvOld @bankpostal

Good news: CMS launch a #medicare app. Bad news: It isn't individualized, and only 29 percent of those 70-and-older have smartphones. Via @KHNews: ow.ly/OBRk30o20q8

Honestly, the contrast between the results of this @codeforamerica @civilladetroit effort to redesign #SNAPmatters & #Medicaid enrollment and what's proposed in the Trump budget has me dizzy. Nice timing everybody.

A wave of new tech actors are helping people who receive social #safetynet benefits and allowing them to advocate for themselves.
@mRelief_form, an awardee of GDI-incubated Unorthodox Philanthropy, is one of these trailblazers.
