PROTESTERS INTERRUPT TRUMP’S TEXAS RALLY AND THE DEBATE GOES BEYOND POLITICS. At a rally in San Antonio, Texas, on October 7, protesters repeatedly interrupted President Donald Trump, bringing tensions over political expression and public dissent into the spotlight. But this raises a bigger question: What happens to democracy when people disagree so deeply that public events become battlegrounds for opposing views? In America, the right to protest is a fundamental part of democratic participation. People must be able to challenge political leaders, express their frustrations, and demand answers. Democracy isn't just about who holds power. It's also about whether people can question that power without fear. #Trump #SanAntonio #TexasNews #FreedomOfSpeech #RightToProtest #SocialJustice #Democracy #PoliticalAccountability theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Botham Jean was 26 years old when his life was taken inside his own home in Dallas. He was a son, a brother, a friend, a young professional with a future ahead of him. His family has had to carry a loss that no sentence or court decision can undo. Now, Amber Guyger, who was convicted of killing Botham, has been granted parole after serving seven years of her 10-year sentence. Botham’s family opposed the parole decision. This case continues to raise difficult questions about accountability, justice, and what it means for families to live with the consequences of a life taken. Behind every case is a person whose absence is felt every day. Botham Jean deserved to come home. #BothamJean #Justice #Accountability #CriminalJustice #Dallas #SocialJustice

Nolan Wells didn’t accidentally drown. The systemic abandonment of his investigation is a reminder that Black deaths are background noise to this system.

GUN VIOLENCE & GUN RIGHTS: CAN WE TALK ABOUT BOTH? In America, the conversation around firearms often comes down to two important questions: How do we protect the constitutional right to keep and bear arms while also protecting communities from gun violence? The Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, but the Supreme Court has also recognized that the right has limits and that governments have historically regulated firearms. Today, courts continue to consider where that constitutional line should be drawn. Recent cases involving assault-weapon restrictions, firearm eligibility, and other regulations show that this debate is far from settled. This isn't just a political debate. It affects families, survivors, gun owners, communities, and public safety. 💬 The question is: What should responsible gun policy look like in a country where both constitutional rights and public safety matter? Stay informed. Know the facts. Make your voice count. #GunViolence #GunRights #PublicSafety #SecondAmendment #CivicEngagement #CommunitySafety #ConstitutionalRights #SocialJustice #KnowTheFacts

A ceasefire must mean more than an end to bombing. It must mean making life safe and livable again. In Gaza, children and families are still living among rubble and inside buildings weakened by war because many have nowhere else to go. This week, the collapse of a damaged building killed at least 21 people, including 11 children. Many displaced families continue to face the danger of unstable structures and inadequate shelter. Families should not have to choose between having no shelter and sleeping beneath a roof that could collapse on them. War can continue killing people long after the bombs stop falling. Peace must include safe shelter, rebuilding, protection, and the restoration of human dignity. Photo: The Guardian #Gaza #Peace #HumanDignity #Nonviolence365 #BelovedCommunity

A Black man pumping gas in Massachusetts was allegedly attacked without provocation as a man yelled racial slurs at him. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including a suspected compound fracture. Racist hate and violence have no place in our communities. We must continue to stand against hate and demand accountability!

Armed agents at the polls? Not on our watch. We're suing the Trump administration to stop the intimidation of Black, Latino, Asian, and immigrant voters this election season. We will continue to clear a path to #midterms, because fear tactics won't have the final say. The voters will. Get ready with us at naacp.org/vote. #WeThePeople

#EmmettTill would have turned 85 today. His lynching was a most brutal example of the sociopathic, vile nature of white supremacist ideology + racism + hate. Carolyn Bryant Donham‘s lie fanned the flames of hate in the hearts of her husband, Roy, and brother-in-law, J.W. William, who abducted 14-year-old Emmett. They beat and mutilated him before shooting him in the head and sinking his body in the Tallahatchie River. Three days later, Emmett’s mutilated and bloated body was discovered and retrieved from the river. We will never forget Emmett Till or his mother, #MamieTillMobley, who insisted on a public funeral service with an open casket to expose the world to her son’s bloated, mutilated body. and to the barbarism being inflicted by white people upon Black people in America. Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley cannot be erased. #RememberingEmmett #TheKingCenter #StillTill

Governor JB Pritzker signed legislation establishing July 25 as Emmett Till Day in Illinois. 71 years after his mother forced America to look at what hate does to a child, the state is putting his name on the calendar. His legacy is not just remembrance, it's a responsibility. Say his name. Teach his story. Let his life push us to be better and do better for every child who comes after him.

Emmett Till should be celebrating his 85th birthday today. Instead, he was robbed not only of his life, but of every year, relationship, dream, and possibility that should have followed. White supremacy destroys lives, wounds generations, and depends on our willingness to look away. Remember Emmett. Reject the hatred that killed him. Continue the work of dismantling every system that devalues Black life. #EmmettTill

Clara Ester, one of the last living eyewitnesses to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination and a lifelong civil rights activist, has died at age 78. From marching in support of the Memphis sanitation workers fighting for fair treatment to rushing to Dr. King's side after he was shot, she dedicated her life to serving others and advancing the fight for justice. Her unwavering commitment to justice helped shape history, and we won't let the world forget her legacy. Rest in Power.
