I’m still shocked by the Arday frenzy this summer. Right across the spectrum — from the Times, Unherd, Telegraph, Mail to the Guardian, Novara, Private Eye… based on tenuous assumptions. Left right politics does not explain it. Something deeper, more atavistic and barbaric
The final irony. Hundreds of articles ABOUT Jason Arday - fact-free, poor data analysis, often copying other people's work/ A couple of articles BY Jason Arday - a few corrections, and still supported by academic publishers and peer review. Just tragic bias by our media

I'm enjoying Hit the North playing at half time at the Etihad. There are other bands besides Oasis. Buzzcocks Moving Away from the Pulse Beat played at half time in the immortal 93:20 game. #mcfc #thefall #buzzcocks

Watching Chad Powers on Disney at the recommendation of @GNev2 @Carra23 @IanWright0 - imagine my horror that it's about cheering for an actual cheat.

Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. It is like reporting on the Civil Rights movement in the US and only interviewing outraged Whites @bbclaurak @bbcnickrobinson @JustinOnWeb @BBCr4today
“[Saying] ‘Zionism is racism’ is offensive, it’s antisemitic and it’s dangerous” Broadcaster Jo Coburn says she “watched in horror” as the Green Party passed its motion on Zionism and criticises leader Zack Polanski's defence in his #BBCLauraK interview bbc.co.uk/news/live/c64gv8k2…

Important evidence of rape and other sexual violence by Israelis against Palestinian civilians collected by Professor @maynard_nick and his colleagues, detailed, evidence-heavy peer reviewed paper published @bmj_latest
Please read and share this article from *The BMJ* on *"Sexual violence against Palestinians". It’s difficult reading, but must be shared. Five doctors and legal scholars examine the evidence and call for independent investigations and accountability. bmj.com/content/395/bmj-2026…

Football is a game. It should be a fun day out. When hostility is being whipped up much better to use humour and reclaiming words, banners etc certainly worked yesterday. Fans continue to get abuse but, as with the 80s, most just want to watch a game of football.
City fans being City fans I think we all know how these headlines will become 'owned' and reused as a rallying cry. Chants like "City is our Name" used to taunt City became MCFC chants. Fans are getting incredible abuse at the moment, humour the way forward.

"It is hard to overstate the scale of death, destruction, and suffering inflicted on Gaza... The 223,000 tons of explosives dropped on Gaza—roughly equivalent to 15 times the power of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima—have killed more than 74,000 Palestinians, the vast majority of them civilians, and reduced most of Gaza to rubble. Israel’s assault, over which it is currently on trial for genocide at the International Court of Justice, has wiped out some 92 percent of Gaza’s housing stock, 95 percent of its farmland, all 12 of its universities, and nearly half of its 36 hospitals—in other words, the very institutions and infrastructure that sustain life." - @elgindy_ foreignaffairs.com/palestini…

Regarding the #Naza film debate on war crimes vs genocide, the debate has been underway for a while. Based on the documentary makers research, I published this in July 2025 link.springer.com/article/10… People are beginning to understand the illusion of the war/genocide distinction.

OLIVER TWIST & ME by Nicholas Blincoe ‘Anger can never renew itself. Only hope stays fresh: the hope we will understand each other.’ This is a remarkable work of literary exploration, family history, social history and biography (of Charles Dickens and of Robert Blincoe, the real-life inspiration behind Dickens’s OLIVER TWIST). Nicholas Blincoe brings these threads together in a moving tribute to his great-great-great grandfather and an unwavering assessment of Dickens as both an extraordinary writer and a troubled (and troubling) man. I will be chatting to Nicholas this coming Saturday at the Lowdham Book Festival. Lowdham features in Robert Blincoe’s story, so I’m looking forward to a very locally informed conversation! @NicholasBlincoe thebookcase.co.uk/wp-content…

I'm thrilled and honoured that Oliver Twist and Me made the list with such great writers - and I'm going to say, the most prestigious UK prize

On one side we have the genocide experts and all the major human rights organisations. On the other side we have the weirdo who wrote an article about how the IDF should be nominated for the Nobel. One of those instances where it's simply impossible to work out who is right.
It’s *not* a genocide. Rwanda was a genocide. The Shoah was a genocide. Equating Israel with the Interahamwe or SS is just wicked

Let me tell you a story about the Palace of Westminster and British culture In 1792, August Charles Pugin, a French Huguenot refugee, fled to the UK. While he converted to Anglicanism, his son, Augustus Welby Pugin, refused. Turning to Catholicism instead.
