Today, I had the honor of participating in the National Retreat on the Effective Implementation of the Dual Mandate and Strategic Plan for Colleges of Education, organised by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). I unveiled the New Dual Mandate Curriculum and the NCCE Medium-Term Strategic Plan (2026–2031). I commend the Executive Secretary, Dr. Angela Ajala, and her team for this important initiative. The Dual Mandate gives our Colleges of Education the opportunity to keep producing quality NCE teachers while gradually offering bachelor's degrees in education. Its success will not be judged by how many Colleges start degree programmes. What matters is quality, readiness and strict compliance with standards. Every College must have qualified lecturers, good facilities and strong quality assurance systems in place before going ahead. The quality of our education system depends on the quality of our teachers. Strengthening Colleges of Education is an investment in our children and in the future of our nation. The Federal Ministry of Education will keep working closely with the NCCE, NUC and the management of the Colleges so that this reform delivers real change in our classrooms. #DualMandate #TeacherEducation #NCCE #RenewedHopeAgenda
