To better align with winter breaks for local schools and reduce impacts to students, Metro has adjusted this year’s winter construction schedule to begin on Dec. 18.
🟢 Dec. 18 to Dec. 30: Green Line trains will single track between U St and Georgia Av-Petworth.
🟠⚪️🔵 Dec. 20 to Dec. 30: Orange, Silver, and Blue lines will single track between McPherson Sq and Smithsonian.
This necessary work includes replacing or repairing rails, concrete, fastening systems, communication equipment, signals, and lighting.

This past Monday-Sunday was Metro’s fourth-busiest week since 2020 thanks to big events across the region, including the @Marine_Marathon, which helped set station records at Rosslyn and Pentagon! Several other stations like Crystal City, Foggy Bottom-GWU, Court House, Smithsonian, and Arlington Cemetery saw big numbers this weekend, too.
Overall, we served nearly 1.3 million trips across Rail and Bus on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for riding with us!

From a simple office district to a neighborhood with more reasons to stay after work — National Landing is evolving, with Amazon’s 2.1 million SF HQ2 helping drive the transformation and Metro connecting it all.
Since 2019, the area around Crystal City station has added 2,582 homes (and counting!) and more than 340,000 square feet of retail, bringing more places to live, dine, shop, and explore near transit.
The next chapter includes turning outdated office space into new destinations: 2200 Crystal Drive is being converted into 195 homes, while 2100 Crystal Drive will become two hotels with a combined 336 rooms.
That’s transit-oriented development in action — bringing homes, jobs, and everyday destinations together within easy reach of Metro.
And with a second station entrance scheduled to open in spring 2027, Metro is helping this growing, increasingly mixed-use neighborhood stay connected.

Meet the future Gold Line. 🚌✨
Metro is partnering with @DDOTDC to bring faster, more reliable bus service to H Street NE and Benning Road NE through the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
Unlike traditional bus service, BRT combines features like dedicated lanes, improved traffic signals, enhanced stations, and faster boarding to create a more efficient, dependable travel experience while making streets safer for everyone.
The Gold Line will also strengthen connections between neighborhoods, Union Station, and the RFK Campus, making it easier for people to get where they need to go every day. 🚌🏠🏈🚆
Follow along in the coming weeks as we share more about Metro’s future Gold Line and how it will help improve travel along the corridor. Learn more about the project here: wmata.com/initiatives/plans-…
Commuter Choice projects are making a difference to our communities, ensuring Northern Virginia residents can get where they need to go quickly and efficiently. As a @ffxconnector 598 rider recently said “I love this route, as it makes my commute to work significantly shorter (sometimes as much as half!) compared to taking the Metro line”.

ALT Commuter Choice and NVTC branded graphic with a dark blue background, light blue quote marks, white text with a quote from a Fairfax Connector 598 rider, and a banner that says "NoVa commuters are reaping the benefits of Commuter Choice projects!" with a map of the Commuter Choice funded project for Fairfax Connector Route 598 from Reston South Park and Ride to Crystal City.
