“Our Heavenly Father is more liberal in His views, and boundless in His mercies and blessings, than we are ready to believe or receive; and, at the same time, is more terrible to the workers of iniquity, more awful in the executions of His punishments, and more ready to detect every false way, than we are apt to suppose Him to be.” - Joseph Smith. The online right is not able to recognize obvious grift and it’s a problem with really widespread detrimental effect
In this GOP postmortem, we should absolutely have a reckoning for those who promoted adjudicated and accused rapists and predators like Russell Brand & the Tate Brothers.

“Immigrants lost the election for us” is the rightwing “Kamala lost because of racism” You just prove you’re unfit to govern if your only takeaway from defeat is cope
"We mass imported a population from cultures that are diametrically opposed to the United States." @JohnDoyle, @NickJFreitas, and @AuronMacintyre break down the impact that demographic changes and immigration have on the outcome of elections:

Q: “Should republicans look to you as some kind of savior going forward?” A: “There’s no saviors in politics. Elected officials are supposed to be servants.”

One of the simplest and most powerful teachings of Jesus Christ is “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). I find it noteworthy that Jesus Christ didn’t say blessed are the peace lovers or the peaceful. He talked about being peacemakers—makers of peace. When we make peace, it is not only conflict resolution in its highest form, but we reflect our divine nature as children of God.

Was walking with baby the other day and stopped to talk to an elderly lady who told me about she always wanted to have babies but wasn't able to 😢
You know why non-religious people don't have children? The answer is simply this: They don't like kids They "just didn't want to have kids" Meanwhile, among older religious folks who don't have kids -- a lot of them wanted to be a parent. It just didn't happen.

After an incredible local effort to repeal the state’s draconian ban and legalize abortion, Prop 1 has lost. The opposition campaign to this pro-choice measure was funded by two of the most powerful forces in the U.S.: the Catholic Church and the Mormon Church.

We are so cool
The mormon church spent $1M & the catholic church spent $300,000 to fight against women having access to comprehensive healthcare in Idaho, with the mormon church requiring a letter be read during sunday services to pressure members to vote against access to care. Shameful.

Imagine being a Democrat strategist and not seeing any possible path to success ever again, and then all of a sudden Trump starts telling people to shut up about Epstein and starts a war with Iran.

If you are weary, or distracted, or feel that you have lost your connection to the Saviour, the house of the Lord—a house of peace and joy—is where to go.   Children, feel His peace on temple grounds. Youth, find Him in the baptistery. And to all of us, do whatever you need to do to receive and keep your temple recommend.   The Lord commands and blesses us with temples—including the Wichita Kansas Temple dedicated on Sunday—so that we can be part of His sacred and holy work.   Come serve your ancestors who have heard the gospel and are desirous to continue their eternal journey of faith in Jesus Christ.   Seek Him. Come to His house. He is here, and He has been here the whole time.

I've been saying it for years, this place is a silo, like most text-based social platforms. there is no "repeal the 19th" cohort. there is no "100 million deportations" cohort. there is no "everyone hates Indian Americans" cohort. people on this website have been "yes and"ing themselves into fake golden ages and meme wars and none of it is real. None of it.

This election is a perfect example of why you need to vote in your primary. Many of those seats were winnable with a better candidate nominated.

I was wondering how I was going to decide between Vance and DeSantis in the primary to maximize our 2028 chances but looks like an easier choice now 😬

Nevada flipped a House race to blue that has been solidly red since it was created simply by nominating an awful Republican candidate. I would say maybe the Republicans will learn their lesson from that but I doubt it, our party leadership here is kind of crazy.

The good news there is that it should be quite easy to flip back in 2026 if they nominate anyone even remotely good. Amodei held the seat by a wife margin for decades. We just need someone reasonable people are willing to vote for.
