the way Google just removed Oxford street from Google maps... again proves this app is built for car users
Hungary earlier this year and now this, really gives you hope that even when populist illiberal parties govern for a while, democracy can still win
Serbia: The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS-EPP) has admitted defeat in today's parliamentary elections. The Student List (SL-*) has won a majority of votes.

Placeless car-dominated sprawl. Fails to adequately address the street or take advantage of the opportunities presented by its canalside location. Not dense enough, too much road and too much parking given that the occupants are the least likely demographic to own them. Object.
guys they're adding a new dimension to Minecraft OMG I'm so excited
Today at Minecraft LIVE: Dungeons II, our first new dimension in more than 14 years, new ways for creators to build, Minecraft on Nintendo Switch 2, and more.
More than 300,000 people play Minecraft for the first time on an average day. After 17+ years and 425M+ copies sold, I love that Minecraft is still finding new players and giving longtime ones new things to discover. ๐
as a person who 95% shops at m&s, Lidl and Tesco, I agree (the only other is coop, should be higher!)
people need to realise this is the least built up part of the development (circled the part shown)! it's honestly one of the most exciting developments in the UK, very excited to see the denser centre come together

Since the 11th century, the city of Bologna has allowed property owners to build over the public pavement provided that they maintain the ground level as an open 'portico'. Bologna now has 62km of porticoes, the longest network in the world.
The result is a win-win-win: pedestrians gain welcome shade, homeowners gain space, and the city gains density and compactness. It isn't clear that this would work in the pale sunlight of England, but there are lots of other cities in sunny countries that might benefit from this.
Other interesting features of this view:
1. The tramline is new: trams have not yet started running, but will do so imminently. Italy is having a light rail revival like France and Germany. In the historic centre of Bologna the trams will run on batteries, so no overhead clutter is required.
2. This particular street is a nineteenth-century cutting, a reminder that vigorous planning positively shaped Europe's urbanism far beyond the famous examples in Paris.
3. Bologna is one of Europe's great cities for exposed brick. Note the proliferation of terracotta ornament, all of which is cast in moulds and can be reproduced cheaply at scale without much skilled craftmanship.
4. The windows on the left are covered by *external* blinds. Italians make extensive use of these, and they are phenomenally effective. They are a fairly radical solution since they reduce visibility to zero, but we will surely start using more awnings and external shutters in England in the years to come.

Millennial purchasing power would reshape cities. They want spacious 3-bed flats in cool city centres or a cute terrace with a walkable high street. They are forced by a broken and yankified development industry to choose between a dormitory box or a semi in the middle of nowhere

well the flight has now been delayed 5 hours so maybe this didn't matter in the end ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
the bus from Liverpool south parkway (closest train station to Liverpool airport) to the airport is a joke... we only travelled like 50m from the train station in 10min because of all the red lights.
If you're not connecting trains to the airport, you need priority buses.

I think there needs to be a conversation about older people being radicalised online because that conversation is only ever framed through the prism of young people when evidently itโs happening to the older generation too. Itโs really scary these are peopleโs grandparents.
