Our platform is simple—Jewish voters should expect one thing from the Democratic Party:
The spine to clearly and publicly condemn the far-left rhetoric that spreads lies about Israel, excuses antisemitic terrorism, and smears Jewish voters with garbage like calling AIPAC “dark money.”
That’s it.
No hedging. No silence. No pretending this is complicated.
Just 3% of Americans consider Israel/Gaza to be their top issue — so what’s the excuse? It’s not politics, it’s a failure of leadership that needs to be rectified.
One candidate is a rabid antisemite with direct links to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The other is not.
The choice in Michigan’s U.S. race is clear.
The choice in Michigan’s U.S. Senate race is clear.
Vote Abdul El-Sayed.

ALT The image is a split graphic comparing Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers. On the left, Abdul El-Sayed is associated with rebuilding Detroit's Health Department after bankruptcy, eliminating medical debt for 300,000 people, guaranteeing healthcare, lowering prescription drug costs, and supporting family farms. On the right, Mike Rogers is noted for receiving more than $5 million from corporations, voting to cut healthcare, supporting war in Iran, pocketing money from pharmaceutical companies, and having a top financial advisor connected to child sexual assault.

I was shocked this caused such a stir—because I have heard this EXACT rhetoric from Abdul El-Sayed:
Abdul El-Sayed on April 7: "I don't pay taxes so another country gets a tank or a bomb. I pay my taxes so our kids get schools and healthcare."
This was at a rally where Hasan Piker also said this: "every single dollar that is spent on a bomb is stolen from each and every one of you."
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.
🚨🚨Signs of life from Stevens🚨🚨
“Abdul promises to get money out of politics. He can begin by getting Israel out of his explanation for everything Michigan cannot afford.”
We’re just going to say it:
Anyone who tells you that you have the moral obligation to vote for a candidate is full of shit.
You should vote based off your own views and priorities. Our priority is not allowing an antisemitic terrorist sympathizer into the US Senate.
So here are the most common responses to my argument that Jewish voters have a moral obligation to vote for Abdul, despite misgivings, to check MAGA and the danger it poses on a variety of fronts, including rising anti-semitism on the right:
- Don't have to listen to you because you "backed" Platner, which is not actually true, despite being repeated on social media, but also just a way of avoiding the argument.
- I'm a self-hating Jew. Yes! But not the Jewish part. Also beside the point.
- You wouldn't argue "voters in Dearborn" have an "moral obligation" to vote for a pro-Israel candidate. Would and have!
- You're ignoring anti-semitism on the left. But I've been pretty open and direct about this, including how some interpret or explain or downplay anti-Semitism on our side in ways that we wouldn't and shouldn't extend to the right.
- Insults a plenty. Oh no my feelings.
- How dare you, I don't have to do ANYTHING, you fuck. OK!
But I'll also try here to characterize the rare but sincere response, something like: Abdul's comments after Temple Israel including "hurt people hurt people" are unforgivable, even if he has apologized. The apology is not enough or not sincere, and his outreach efforts to the Jewish community are insufficient. And what I'd say is Abdul has a responsibility in his words and actions to address this criticism over time, even as for many his opposition to military aid to Israel and his description of Israel's conduct in Gaza as a genocide mean he can never persuade many of these critics.
And I would like him to do this continued outreach as a Senator in a Democratic majority. I say this as as a supporter of Abdul, someone I know and respect, and as someone who has been very critical of him when warranted, which I'd continue to do if he's in the Senate.
That is because of the stakes for the country in this election, which include appointments to the Supreme Court, Trump's ability to appoint stooges to his cabinet, and given the virulent bigotry on display in Michigan by Trump and Rogers, the need to check MAGA because of the danger it poses to Muslims and to Jews, and anyone who is not in their view the right kind of American. A Republican Senator said YESTERDAY that Abdul shouldn't be in the Senate because he doesn't recognize Jesus as our savior. Anyone else fail that test?
Now that I've gotten this off my chest, you may resume calling me a moron.
Left wing parties in Europe are starting to realize they have been infiltrated by Islamic extremists, but their own fear of social exclusion from left wing circles has kept them quiet.
The Democratic Party needs to learn from their European counterparts before it’s too late.
Abdul El-Sayed’s mother was a card carrying member of the Muslim Brotherhood. His sister has tweeted in support of the Muslim Brotherhood. His sister-in-law was on the terror watch list. His father runs a charity with Muslim Brotherhood members that was raided by the FBI.
NEW from me
Abdul El-Sayed’s father sits on the board of a charity that was busted by the feds for funneling cash to Saddam Hussein just before the Iraq War—and whose offices were raided by both the FBI and the U.S. military

The most important, indisputable fact that’s been lost on the Israel hating left is that tomorrow Israel is holding a free and fair election, unlike… checks notes… every single other country in the Middle East.
“We must sacrifice Jewish safety for the betterment of this country” is not that far from “Jews are standing in the way of making the world a better place.”
Replying to @BradS44w
I do not consider Jews or anyone expendable. And I understand the hurt feelings here. I just ask you to consider all of the issues in front of us and the country. But no one - no one at all - is expendable.

This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days. Do we need to lower costs by building more homes, securing people’s health care, and creating a fairer federal tax code? Yes, we do!! How we do so is not by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world. I want to see Democrats succeed at every level, and that means keeping our focus on lowering costs for Michigan families and reining in this out-of-control President.

Ro Khanna has a net worth of $340 million.
30% of CA schools are more than 50 years old. Building a new elementary school in the Bay Area costs $80 million and modernizing one costs $20 million.
If Ro really cares about schools, he should put his money where his mouth is.
From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in.
In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes.
In Spain, for affordable rent and housing.
In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption.
@JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south.
He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment.
The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few.
This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future.
In America, let us listen to our young.
We need an economic and political transformation.

Yes, El-Sayed signed a letter in Arabic in 2012 calling on the new Muslim brotherhood government in Egypt to crack down on dissenters.
It’s so outrageous that people think that it must be made up right-wing propaganda, but it’s real. 1/
Who’s in El-Sayed’s inner circle?
Meet Imam Mohammad Elahi, founder and leader of the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn and close associate of Abdul El-Sayed.
Elahi served in Iran’s military and at the Martyrs Foundation, an organization sanctioned for financing Hezbollah.
If El-Sayed actually opposed the Muslim Brotherhood…
“Thank you for the question. I want to acknowledge that my family has been in the news quite a lot recently, and I want to begin by saying, unequivocally, that I loathe the Muslim Brotherhood and everything they stand for.”
Today, the right is responding with even more anger at Abdul El-Sayed, because this wasn't supposed to happen.
They expected Abdul to dance around the question while Tommy repeated it and was eventually kicked out. Instead, Abdul disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood and turned the question around on Tommy showing him he was guilty of the very thing he tried to accuse El-Sayed of.
Now the right is pissed even more, because instead of exposing Abdul El-Sayed, they were exposed.

1. His tone. He's snarky and angry and lacking in grace. He's an easily ruffled pit bull of a man. He's not a man in full. He's not a man with much ego strength. He's weak, and his tone -- the petulance, the meanness -- is unbecoming of a United States senator, and in times past candidates would have been embarrassed to address a potential constituent this way.
2. His dishonesty. Tommy, who raises a good question but does a poor job on the follow up, didn't ask this question because El-Sayed is Muslim. He asked this question because El-Sayed has family, starting with his mother, affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed wants to turn this into race, and that should make voters wary. Race is the province of the stupid and the guilty and the politically unimaginative. It is what you resort to when you have no cards left to play.

“Putting on your big boy pants” doesn’t mean taking the easy way out, following the herd, and voting for a guy who excuses a terrorist attack on children because the terrorist had hurt feelings. It means voting against extremists—even when they’re in your own party.
I am so f*%*ing proud of Lon Johnson, former Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party!👏
Do not pander to the pro-Palestine crowd. Do not give them a platform. Do not mistake appeasement for tolerance.
The destruction unfolding in France is a warning. Any nation that refuses to defend its values risks losing them.
If you’re keeping track, Abdul El-Sayed has yet to condemn the Iranian Regime and Hezbollah, and has refused to address his family’s history with the Muslim Brotherhood.
He wants to serve on the Foreign Relations Committee.
