The mayor of Panama City is offering up his country to data centers rejected in the US. #Panama already has among the highest electricity prices in the region & a huge problem with water needed to operate the Canal. Not to mention the controversy over copper mining.
Mayer’s correct about the stable political environment up to now. But people are pissed at their political system & politicians. Environmental issues are important to younger middle class voters. And there’s huge income gaps between rural & urban areas. Add data centers to the mix and the political situation could become volatile.
