This week marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026. It is a time to honour the lives of all babies who have sadly died, at any stage of their pregnancy or life. We acknowledge that many families across the country tell us that they do not have suitable support or resources they need at the time of their bereavement. This week we join the very many charities, organisations and families across the country in raising awareness. Brighton Pier, Nottingham City Council House, Nottingham Cathedral of St Barnabas, Chichester City Council House and the Holy Cross, and St Ia Church in St Ives are illuminating their buildings in pink and blue to show solidarity with families across the country. Throughout the week, the Review Team will take part in activities to remember all bereaved families. Today, our team will release flowers along Chichester canal as part of our annual river walk. The Review Team recognises the lifelong harm and consequences that bereavement can bring, so if you feel that you need additional support at this time please make contact with the psychological support team made available to all families and family members included within the Review.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week and always, we remember every baby who has died and stand with every family living with loss 🤍 It has been a hugely significant year for maternity - from the Ockenden and Amos reports published, to the Thirlwall Inquiry, progress towards a National Maternity Commissioner, and new reviews beginning in Leeds and Sussex. Through all of this, lived experience must be at the heart of change. 📢 Next week, a debate on Baby Loss will be held in the House of Commons. Email your MP and ask them to take part on 12th Oct: writetothem.com/ We owe it to every baby lost and every family left grieving to listen, learn and make maternity care safer.
