Dave Ramsey has helped a lot of people, to be sure. But this answer is awful, and there’s only one explanation:
Mortgage Derangement Syndrome
A 63-year-old caller making over $140k/year called Dave Ramsey, insisting it's "smart math" to keep his 2% mortgage instead of paying off his last $92k:
Caller: "I have 12 years left on a 2% rate. My money makes 5% to 15% elsewhere. Why would I pay off a 2% loan?"
Dave Ramsey: "Because on a $100k balance, that 5% spread nets you $5,000 a year…… $400 a month. Most families spend $400 a month on pizza. That little spread isn't making you rich."
Caller: "But the math says..."
Dave Ramsey: "We studied 10,167 millionaires. Zero of them said they built their wealth by keeping a mortgage to invest the difference. Zero. Mortgage literally means 'death pledge'. The borrower is always slave to the lender."
Is Dave right that peace of mind beats math, or is this caller throwing away free money on a 2% rate?

The AI changes happening right now are making it much easier for bad actors to break into accounts, steal money, and lock people out of their own lives. Most people won't notice until it happens to them or someone they care about. I don't want that for any of you.
You don't need to understand the tech. Just do these basic things this week:
1. Update everything. Phones, computers, tablets, and apps. Turn on automatic updates so it stays current.
2. Stop reusing passwords. Use the free password manager that came with your phone (Apple or Google) or something simple like @Bitwarden or @1Password. Give every important account its own password.
3. Turn on extra login protection on email and banking. Prefer an authenticator app or passkeys over text-message codes if you can. Save any recovery codes somewhere safe first.
4. Never give out login codes or download anything from a call, text, or email you weren't expecting -- even if it looks official.
5. Back up your important photos and files somewhere separate from your main devices.
6. If you need to share files with people and you use a Mac, consider downloading qURL desktop: qurl.link (tap "send a file").
7. If you have an iPhone or Mac, look up "Lockdown Mode" and consider turning it on. It limits a few conveniences but closes a lot of doors.
If that list feels like a lot, just do #1 and #4 today. Those two alone stop a huge percentage of the problems.
This isn't theoretical anymore. The people who get ahead of it might be fine. The ones who wait usually aren't.
Do these for yourselves.
Pretty sure the clock has to be at zero for the game to be over. #NotreDamevsBYU #ncaa
Roadster's value as a recruitment and retention tool for @Tesla cannot be overstated. The best engineers in the world are the ones who live, breathe and dream this stuff.
Imagine if a wife went around telling others how great marriage is because all she had to do was say yes once.
She’s so proud of her simple marriage that she quite literally defines her marriage by what it doesn’t require:
No family meals
No photos on the walls
No reunions
No music
No family traditions
No helping neighbors
She might do those things. Perhaps even every day.
But she makes sure all her friends know she doesn’t NEED to do them because that’s just “extra” and that her husband loves her no matter how she acts.
It’s just not the flex the “sola” crowd seems to think it is.
We are the bridegroom and He is our bride.
A marriage is death to self, so that something greater may grow. That death isn’t a one-time thing. You wake up each day and choose it.
It’s not baggage. It’s life-giving.
And it’s not trying to “earn” your marriage.
It IS the marriage.
So maybe instead of focusing and flexing on how little the marriage technically needs from you:
- Flex your Husband because he's so awesome
- Do everything you can every day to be an awesome wife

A gang of goons, acting on the authority of King Zedekiah of Judah, threw the prophet Jeremiah into a pit.
Two of them were Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Gedaliah son of Pashur.
Both men have been historically corroborated through the archaeological discovery of clay seal impressions dated to the sixth century B.C. bearing their names.
And that’s me, below, in the actual pit into which Jeremiah was tossed. Debbie my wife took his short video of me in Jerusalem earlier this year.
But how did Jeremiah survive?
“Now when Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs of the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon…” (Jeremiah 38:7)
So the king’s own men put Jeremiah in there, but a low-ranking Ethiopian decided to take matters into his own hands.
Ebed-melech approached the king—a daunting task that involved great personal risk—and remarkably got permission to get Jeremiah out.
It took 30 men to pull Jeremiah out since he was trapped in the caked mud at the bottom of the pit.
They even used old rags so Jeremiah could pad the ropes under his arms, so they could yank him out without the ropes cutting into his skin.
How exhilarating it is to be on the scene and see the great drama of biblical events supported and illuminated by biblical archaeology!
Mark my words: when Lane retires, only then will he get the credit he has long deserved. He’s the most “taken-for-granted” Eagle.

Anthropic’s Head of Personality Alignment, Amanda Askell, argued that discrimination against white students “may be desirable” as a way of correcting historical injustice.
This is coming from one of the most prominent people working on AI alignment.
Let that sink in.
A little toasty in here. Cabin overheat protection didn’t kick on for some reason. @Tesla
