It's marathon season. I am kicking off my FREE newsletter on NYC Marathon prep/logistics.
I've run this race 18x, including the last 16 in a row.
My newsletter is different...it's focused the pre- and
post-race experience, which overwhelm the most experienced.
Check it out! 👇
That was among the worst halves
of basketball I’ve seen in 40 years of watching hoops in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Worlds collide. At the Northwestern football game today, I meet Spencer Cotten, who played @PrincetonFTBL.
I ask him, do you know @dickiebush?
I told Spencer about @ship30for30 and he was duly impressed.
Go Cats and Go Tigers!
Thanks @EddieWouldGrow! 🤙🤙🤙
First time I am mentioned with @Nicolascole77 and George Lucas in a sentence!
Replying to @lochhead
@lochhead, @bybreezyco and I just published Part 1 of 3 mini-books on Mini-Book Category Design.
Writing a legendary mini-book isn't about just writing:
- With AI
- With a Ghostwriter
- Or even just by yourself
All of those are important, yet insufficient.
Legendary mini-books are forged on a foundation of a legendary Magic Triangle.
Not just any Magic Triangle. But a PERSONAL Magic Triangle.
See how Pirates @OkimotoKyle, @Nicolascole77 and the legendary George Lucas did it.
We map out the first 3 of 9 steps to this here!

10 days until @nycmarathon, my 20th NYC/18th overall. Running it slow as I’m trying to BQ at CIM in December.
Focused on CIM, today I did 8 mi at 7:55, a little slower than LT. Very doable. Thanks to everyone here for sharing their wisdom with me!
Slow running is paying off.
My wife @StacySKim book “Envy: What Wanting What They Have Is the Key to Getting What You Want” is out today.
As a partner of first-time author, I am trying to push beyond today’s launch date. How?
1. By maximizing awareness of upcoming book events.
2. By posting news on social media.
3. By reconnecting with people in person and having the book launch come up naturally in conversation.
It’s easier for me to brag about Stacy’s book than Stacy herself. So I’ll keep on bragging for a few more weeks!
My wife's book on ENVY comes out next Tuesday.
Newsweek article drops today. A couple dozen podcasts drop next week. Bookseller wants my wife to take down the digital sales for two events next week. Why?
He can't get enough books! What a business.
I inherited a fractional of a commercial property in Hawaii held by my family for over 100 years. Over 5 years, I transformed that Frozen Asset into Vibrant Wealth for my mother and me.
I've seen folks in my situation steer themselves into Inheritors Regret by making 3 avoidable mistakes:
1. Not severing ties with financially-irresponsible relatives
2. Following cookie cutter expert advice that's not tailored to their own situation
3. Taking incremental, disconnected steps that chip way at their wealth along the way
My wife @StacySKim! Her book Envy: Why Wanting What They Have is the Key to Getting What You Want comes out next week!

3 easy ways to maximize your enjoyment the New York City Marathon (even if it’s your first marathon!):
Every year, even the most experienced marathoners waste precious time, energy and $ prior to the New York City Marathon.
This is a once-in-a lifetime-experience. Why fritter any of it away? I will be running my 20th NYC Marathon on November 1.
Here are 3 steps you can take to avoid common mistakes:
1. Please take the subway to the Staten Island Ferry
2. Bring an old clothes from home to wear prior to the start
3. Don’t seek uncurated advice from strangers on social media😀
Doing these 3 things will guarantee you’ll get to the finish with more of what you want....
Money in your wallet. Energy. A stress-free mind. A more enjoyable visit to NYC. Plus 26.2 miles of running!
Enjoy!
Writing a book and training for a marathon share similar traits. It’s a long slog and there’s always more you can do.
I figured I’d combine them tonight during a slow 6 miles in Central Park. I believe two people scanned the QR code.
@StacySKim’s book on harnessing Envy for good drops on 10/20.
A call from my hometown's area code kickstarted steps to transform a Frozen Asset into Vibrant Wealth for my mother and me.
I moved instantly from complacency into action. Day 3 in my series.
8*800@7:05 pace. This workout used to terrify me.
Now at 59, it’s just another workout. I remind myself, “what’s the workout’s purpose?”
Today it was to sustain this pace consistently across reps. Full recovery, repeat.
Thanks @runliftrunlift, @stevemagness and @LucusHumphrey! Lots of slow running works!
DAY 2 OF 30: What Is a Frozen Asset (and Why You Might Own One)?
Want to see a Frozen Asset that could unlock millions for ordinary families?
Drive around Honolulu, the Bay Area, or Seattle. Any city where families have owned properties for generations.
Look at commercial properties on those streets. You'll see many thriving businesses, but there will be other properties that look like they're stuck in the '70s. Buildings where there's 1 tenant when there should be 3.
Drive around Door County, Wisconsin. You'll see lake houses in disrepair, surrounded by neighboring properties updated for the 21st century.
Walk through an upscale neighborhood. Are there houses with unkempt yards, no car ever in the driveway, falling behind on the maintenance?
There's a story behind these properties. They're still loved, but nobody can agree on what to do with them, so nothing gets done. Owners with multiple opinions, conflicting time horizons and divergent financial situations. No one taking the lead.
That's a Frozen Asset.
The asset is worth millions but it feels like it's locked in a bulletproof safe. It's visible, yours on paper, but inaccessible until someone does something about it.
Should that someone be you?
Frozen Assets come in many forms.
• Farmland
• Your childhood home
• Commercial properties
• A vacation home where you and your cousins spent summers
If your Frozen Asset has these 3 traits, do something about it now.
1. You own it with family mambers
2. It's appreciated massively in recent decades
3. There's a day of reckoning: aging owner, expiring lease, family tension
If you answer yes to all 3, you have a Frozen Asset.
The complexity is real. The opportunity makes solving it worth your time. Will you do something about it to transform your Frozen Asset into Vibrant Wealth?
It’s 8 days until my wife’s book - “ENVY: Why Wanting What They Have Is the Key to What You Want” drops.
I do a web search of her 2 or 3 times a day. I’ve been able to find a @nytimes Student Opinion/Learning Network feature and a blog post mentioning her book before she heard of it.
An author has no time to monitor this and there’s a lag with @GoogleAlerts. This helps the author to focus on more important things. The spouse can help the author respond to activity as soon as it happens.
