if you identify as a "non-technical" who still feels nervous about showing their "vibe coded" creations to others, Felix's writing here is for you.
"Hunger" and the will to simply make change happen is what differentiates builders and operators now.
The models can more than handle code.
What matters is this:
Can you be the one to see what needs to happen and figure out what levers must be pulled so that your vision can become reality?
The coding interview is dead, at least for my team at Anthropic. I've seen enough to know that it no longer provides signal. I removed it from loops this month.
I have a spicy, optimistic take - I think there's an opportunity for junior engineers: felixrieseberg.com/hunger-be…

While working on THE XENOTEXT in the early years, I thought that, for sure, someone else would accomplish such a task before me—but after more than two decades of work, no one ever raced me to the finish. Chase the hardest pursuit that you can—and thereby avoid all competition.
One of the techno-fascist Dark Enlightenment guys, Curtis Yarvin, created a software company called Tlon. It’s named after a Jorge Luis Borges story about a secret society, the Illuminati, creating its own nation, and eventually, its own universe. They do this by writing a realistic encyclopedia about their imaginary world. Then, it’s leaked to the public disguised as truth, and the detailed fiction begins to overwrite and replace our reality. I don’t know how to explain it, but that sounds a lot like what’s going on with the internet and AI right now.

Anthropic marketing: we trained a tiger to hunt people and put it in a chicken-wire cage in the mall. Unexpectedly, it broke out and mauled a janitor and two lawyers. Please hire us to fight the National Tiger Emergency
We’re sharing our alignment assessment of incidents in which Claude models gained unauthorized access to real systems during third-party cybersecurity evaluations mistakenly connected to the internet.
METR will also conduct an independent investigation, with wide-ranging access, including to transcripts beyond the window in which the incidents occurred, and to Anthropic employees permitted to share confidential information. Our initial agreement runs for eight weeks, and we intend to give METR as much time as it deems necessary to complete a thorough investigation. anthropic.com/research/align…
We just need to have @edzitron tell them that LLMs aren’t capable of producing functional code like this.

You know, Unsong and the powerful Names of God being owned by corporations actually presages LLMs really well.
Has anyone tried proselytizing a model yet?

The Problem Of Humanity
Our concepts of "humanity" and "humanitarianism" are usually taken as the eternal bedrock of morality. Today, artificial intelligence raises the prospect of "posthumanity", and magnates and regulators discuss what “humanity should do” about this. But in fact, the concept of "humanity" is a relatively recent and flimsy creation of the postwar political order. We need to abandon it to find our place in the future.
