This is truly a dark day for British Jews. Today our Government has chosen to ignore the deep concerns expressed by so many of us. The measures announced amount to little more than political flag bearing for mendacious anti-Israel rhetoric and those who harbour a dangerous obsession with the Jewish State. These measures will succeed only in bolstering the very extremism they seek to target. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah and at a time when our community is more vulnerable than ever to the wave of extremism that has been building over recent years, these sanctions do nothing to advance the cause of peace. Nor do they make anyone safer – quite the contrary. Gesture politics of this kind feeds into an increasingly hostile discourse about Israel, and the cumulative effect of such punitive policies is to further embolden those, at home and abroad, who use hatred as a weapon against Jews.

No house of worship should be unsafe w/ parishioners & schoolchildren subjected to threats. Freedom of worship must come w/ freedom from fear. We @OUAdvocacy condemn this attack and call for govt to do more to roll back hate & protect the faithful in the USA.

We @OUAdvocacy thank @ArchbishpSample @USCCB for this important & strong statement. In times such as these, people of good faith - of all faiths - must stand together.
Catholics are called to reject antisemitism and the lies and conspiracies that fuel it, and to stand clearly against hatred and violence directed toward our Jewish brothers and sisters. To defend religious freedom with integrity, we must also reject antisemitism. @ArchbishpSample @archdpdx Watch the full video at: ow.ly/sYF550Yw6cA

CENTCOM Update TAMPA, Fla. – As of 9:30 am ET, March 1, three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing. The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information, including the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

We have been in direct contact with Magen David Yeshivah’s leadership, who are understandably shaken. No parent should send their child to school in fear, and no child should see their school defaced with such vile antisemitism. We will keep pushing city, state, and federal leaders to strengthen security and hold them accountable when they say hate has no home in New York. theyeshivaworld.com/news/gen…

I share in the profound shock and deep sense of loss over the sudden passing of my dear friend and mentor, Rabbi Hauer z"l. Words can hardly capture his extraordinary Torah wisdom, unwavering diligence, boundless humility, and genuine love for every Jew. Perhaps the truest testament to his impact and legacy is the remarkable diversity of those honoring him today, from the OU and Agudah, to the ADL, yeshivas and rabbis across denominations, the Catholic Bishops of New York, and countless others. Rabbi Hauer possessed the rare gift of connecting with everyone he met, all while never compromising an iota of his principles or his core identity as a Ben Torah and Ben Aliyah. I am overwhelmed by the thought that he and I were in the middle of so many conversations that will now forever remain open-ended. He profoundly shaped my rabbinate and inspired so many of my ambitions, both as a rabbi and a Ben Torah. His absence leaves an enormous void, and he will be deeply missed.

The sudden passing of Rabbi Moshe Hauer z”l, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union (OU), has been met with shock and sadness throughout the Torah world. A thoughtful talmid chacham and dedicated pastoral leader, he made the successful transition from local communal leadership to running a major Jewish organization look easy. It was our privilege to engage with him at the helm of the Orthodox Union, where his untimely passing has now created a deep void. יהי זכרו ברון

He personified what it means to be a Torah Jew and took nothing more seriously than his role of sharing the joy of Jewish life with our community and beyond. Rabbi Hauer’s leadership was marked by unwavering dedication, deep compassion, and a vision rooted in faith in Hashem, integrity, and love for Klal Yisrael. Whether through his inspiring words, thoughtful counsel, powerful advocacy, or quiet acts of kindness, Rabbi Hauer uplifted those around him and made an impact on every person he encountered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. May they be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim. At this difficult time, we ask that you join us in remembering Rabbi Hauer, zt”l, by continuing to embody the values he upheld and by committing ourselves to continuing the legacy of Torah, chesed, and unity that he championed so passionately. I was so devastated today to learn that Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Executive Vice President of Orthodox Union, has passed away. He was a steadying presence and light of hope for me as a journalist, and I can’t imagine what his loss feels like to the community that got to be in his presence and benefit from his intelligence, empathy, and kindness regularly. I know that I will remember Rabbi Hauer by trying to follow his example of being the light in the darkness, and I hope that others will do the same. May his memory be a blessing.

Yesterday morning in shul, Jews around the world read the final parsha of the entire Torah; it closes with the passing of Moshe Rabbeinu. And late last night, I learned of a terrible, unexpected loss: the sudden passing of Rabbi Moshe Hauer z"l, EVP of the @OrthodoxUnion. Rabbi Hauer was a husband, father and grandfather; a devoted rabbi who cared deeply for his community; a selfless leader who dedicated himself to serving the Jewish people; an ardent Zionist who cared deeply about Israel and its citizens; a sage and strategic thinker who understood the art of politics and persuasion; and most of all to me, he was a colleague, teacher and friend. When I had a question about Torah or sought counsel on a topic, I often would ask Rabbi Hauer. Sometimes we spoke, sometimes we texted, but he always offered wisdom and I always learned. Yes, he was running an incredibly important Jewish organization, but he always responded to my inquiries and did so with the insight of a scholar and the kindness of a mensch. I treasured our friendship and was blessed to speak with him just last week. He was preparing for the Yom Kippur fast, excited at the prospect of being surrounded by his loving family at his home in Baltimore. I wanted his guidance on an issue, and he stepped away to share his thoughts with characteristic generosity, seriousness and warmth. He was a deeply humble person who never centered himself so I'm sure he would wince at the comparison, but like his namesake, he was Rabbi Moshe the Teacher. He leaves an incredible legacy of light and love, but the world is poorer without him. Baruch Dayan HaEmet. May his memory forever be a blessing and may his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim.

We woke up this morning to the sad news of the passing of Rabbi Moshe Hauer z”l, the Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union and Member of the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors Committees. He was one of the spiritual leaders of American Jewry and a man of deep faith, love, and unity. Rabbi Hauer deeply understood that unity does not mean uniformity, but rather a bridge built on respect, listening, and decency. He taught that our differences are the source of our strength. I had the privilege of knowing him personally, a warm, kind, and beloved man who always shared a smile and brought people together. May his memory be a blessing

I am devastated by the news and the tremendous loss of Rabbi Moshe Hauer, zt”l — a friend, colleague, and mentor. I had the privilege of sitting with Rabbi Hauer in several government meetings and was always struck by how eloquently and thoughtfully he spoke on behalf of the Jewish community. He was authentic, genuine, warm, and deeply respected. His gentle and compassionate way of communicating left a lasting impression on many in positions of power who did not fully understand the impact of antisemitism or the unique perspective of an Orthodox Jew. Rabbi Hauer worked tirelessly to unite all segments of the Jewish community, striving for unity so we could stand as one in the service of Klal Yisrael. I will deeply miss seeing him, his warm and disarming smile, and our conversations about current events, my kids’ NCSY experiences, and Jewish life in general. I will always cherish our thoughtful discussions — moments when Rabbi Hauer genuinely sought my advice and valued my perspective. I learned so much from him, not only through his words of Torah and thoughtful writings, but through how he carried himself as a proud Orthodox Jewish leader. He will be profoundly missed, and his loss leaves a void that will not be easily filled. Baruch Dayan HaEmet.
