“OCD is an isolating and scary thing...”
Comedian and podcast host Jake Shane recently opened up about his experience with OCD on The Drew Barrymore Show, sharing what it can feel like to live with OCD and the importance of feeling seen.
We’re grateful to Jake for speaking openly about his experience. Every person who shares their story helps challenge misconceptions about OCD and reminds others in the community that they aren’t alone. 🩵

GROUNDBREAKING Research Columbia Univ., Mechanisms of PANDAS & Sydenham's chorea.
Principal investigator Dritan Agalliu, Ph.D.Chair of the PANDAS Network Scientific Advisory Board and Postdoctoral Research Fellow Ugur Akcan PhD, and Charlotte Wayne have worked to understand how streptococcal bacteria underlie the acute encephalitic onset in children with PANDAS and Sydenham's chorea.

Meticulously studied by Drs Charlotte Wayne and Ugur Akcan at the Agalliu Lab
Replying to @DAgalliu
I want to thank @CharlotteRWayne (Charlotte Wayne) and @occludens (Ugur Akcan) for their amazing work to complete this paper that took 3 years in revision. Thanks to many collaborators too.
Mechanisms explained carefully translating from mouse model to afflicted children
Finally, it is official! Our paper describing how microglia and brain endothelial cells respond to repeated Group A Strep infections and the implications for Sydenham’s chorea and PANDAS is out in Nature Communications. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

We here show that Group A Strep infections trigger profound changes in the transcriptome of microglia and BECs. Distinct Th17-derived cytokines have shared and unique effects on these cells. Microglia activate many cytokines that are also found elevated in patients with PANDAS.

This is an important paper to read in order to understand not only the biology of these receptors but also how autoantibodies against these receptors may trigger activation. #PANDAS #Sydenhamchorea
Finally--structures of D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5-dopamine receptors!!
Congrats to folks from @RothLabUNC , Eric Xu's lab and many others.
