Public projects in B.C. cost an estimated 20% more than they should, and 85% of the province’s qualified construction workers can’t bid on the bulk them.
The B.C. Conservatives have committed to “restore broad competitive bidding for provincial infrastructure.” PCA welcomes that commitment.
Fair. Open. Competitive.
On October 24, cast a vote to build B.C.

Yesterday, PCA and a delegation of our contractor members from across the country gathered in Ottawa to take our message to Parliament Hill 🇨🇦
Across more than 15 meetings with MPs, cabinet ministers, senators, and staff, we spent the day advocating for the progressive labour model and for Canada’s major projects to remain open and fair to all qualified workers.
To #BuildCanadaStrong, we need all qualified contractors and skilled tradespeople to have the opportunity to work on major projects - regardless of labour affiliation. Canada’s infrastructure should be built safely, productively, and expertly, without excluding qualified workers 🏗️
Thank you to our members who joined us in Ottawa and helped bring the voice of progressive construction directly to Parliament Hill, and to the decision-makers who took the time to meet with us, including:
@DanMuysMP, @BradleyVis, @KristinaTesserD, @A_Larouche_Shef, @freddaviescpc, @senatcarignan, @JohnPaulDanko, @AndrewScheer, @desrochersplc
In the face of tariffs and ongoing trade disputes, how can we build Canada strong? 🛠️🇨🇦

Last week, PCA’s Jason Tucker attended a luncheon by The Canadian Club of Ottawa to hear from Minister of National Defence, @DavidMcGuinty 🇨🇦
Minister McGuinty is right - economic capacity and defence capacity are one and the same.
Canada’s defence strategy relies on three engines: its people, its industrial capacity, and its partners. At PCA, we agree that strengthening Canada’s defence capacity means maximizing our industrial capacity - and that means ensuring all of Canada’s skilled tradespeople can work on defence infrastructure, regardless of union affiliation 🏗️
#FairandOpenConstruction #PCAadvocacy
Yesterday, PCA's Jason Tucker joined contractor member, Luke Shantz, President of Arcadian Projects Inc. (@ArcadianEnergy), to meet with MP Tim Louis (@TimLouisKitCon) 🤝
PCA supports the federal government’s efforts to strengthen competition and was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss with MP Louis how prevailing wage requirements tied to specific collective agreements can limit fair competition for contractors and workers in the Kitchener-Conestoga riding 🏗️
Thank you to MP Louis for taking the time to meet with us and for the thoughtful discussion!
PCA will continue to advocate for labour-neutral policies that ensure all qualified contractors and workers have a fair opportunity to compete 🇨🇦

PCA is pleased to see the project approval reforms proposed in the Building Canada Strong Act and supports the Government of Canada's goal of delivering “one project, one review, one year.” 🏗️🇨🇦
Moving toward a single, coordinated review and consultation process across federal permitting, rather than separate processes for individual permits, would help reduce duplication and provide greater certainty for project proponents and investors.
PCA also welcomes proposed changes to bring energy projects under the assessment purview of the Canada Energy Regulator and Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, which will ensure that energy projects are assessed by institutions with expertise in those areas.
These are important steps toward a more predictable and efficient approvals system that can help attract private-sector investment and get more Canadian projects moving. ✅
