This was entirely predictable. Cyclists aren't going to want to waste time and energy diverting down the side streets with all the obstacles and traffic lights. As usual the impact of new travel restrictions hasn't been properly thought through.
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount.
Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success.

Extremely serious allegations against the government tonight.
Sir Ben Wallace, the former Defence Secretary, has accused Labour of artificially inflating the defence budget by including security services spending.
This has been done, he alleges, to try and hoodwink Nato that we are on course to meet the commitment of defence spending as 3.5% of GDP by 2030.
DESPITE Nato rules clearly excluding security services in it's measurement.
The UK Statistics Authority is "considering" his complaint.
It doesn't need much consideration. It needs investigating, and if true, those complicit must pay the political price.

So sad what they’ve done to Oxford Street. Its red buses, black taxi cabs and other traffic were a key part of what gave it such a buzz. I remember the excitement of Oxford Street in the late 70s when my Dad would take me to see the Christmas lights.
The magic of London is being destroyed.

Also, the notion that Oxford Street was 'dominated by traffic' is just not true. Lately it's been dominated by vape shops, tatty tourist stalls, pickpockets, fraudsters, so-called American candy shops and other money-laundering outlets, and those hideous rip-off Tuk-Tuk things covered in garish lights playing loud music. If @MayorofLondon wanted to revitalise Oxford Street, he should have made it a bus and black cab-only zone and clamped down on those monstrosities.

Tfl only have 1 wheelchair space on buses that is frequently abused by buggies etc, & can’t even accommodate many mobility scooters. @MayorofLondon has been responsible for cutting bus services.

Oxford St. no longer a destination for many Disabled People. Exclusion, why @MayorofLondon Do we have to take legal action against you under the Equality Act for failing to provide reasonable adjustment? We don’t all have power wheelchairs nor able to have use mobility scooters.
