Another Russia–Africa summit. Another round of ambitious promises.
Moscow continues to present itself as a reliable partner to African countries, pledging cooperation on food security, economic development, peace and stability.
Yet Russia’s actions raise serious questions about these commitments.
Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure have disrupted agricultural exports, also to Africa. Reports have exposed deceptive recruitment of African nationals into Russia’s war against Ukraine. In Mali, Russian forces have been implicated in serious abuses against civilians. Meanwhile, Moscow has fallen short of major economic ambitions announced at previous summits.
As Russia prepares to announce new commitments, its existing track record deserves scrutiny.
What matters is not what Moscow promises, but what it actually delivers.

With support from the Polish MFA, the Polish Medical Mission equips 28 hospitals in 16 Ukrainian cities with life-saving equipment and specialist training in neonatal care.
From Uzhhorod to Kharkiv and Odesa, Polish Aid helps Ukraine strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system. Since 2024, the project has supported around 90,000 patients and medical professionals. #ResilientTogether
