while most of crypto is still debating whether the quantum threat matters, the team @trailofbits currently auditing zond ($qrl 2.0) is actively reducing the resources needed to attack secp256k1. think about that for a minute.
We beat Google's quantum circuit again, and we didn't have to forge a proof this time. Today we're releasing trailmix, a toolkit for quantum "kickmix" circuits. It includes 5 new circuits we built for elliptic curve addition, the hardest part of Shor's algorithm.

$QRL consistently at the top of PQ crypto listings
Imagine waking up to discover the cryptography protecting billions in crypto assets may no longer be secure. Crypto talks about scalability and adoption. What if computers challenge the cryptography protecting our wallets? Current quantum computers cannot break blockchains, but research is advancing. I researched the threat, projects and opportunity. THE THREAT Blockchains use digital signatures to authorize transactions. Bitcoin and Ethereum rely on elliptic-curve cryptography, which a sufficiently powerful quantum computer could attack with Shor’s algorithm to derive private keys from exposed public keys. Grover’s algorithm offers a quadratic speedup against hashes and symmetric encryption. “Harvest now, decrypt later” means storing encrypted data today for future decryption. THE ALTERNATIVE: PQC NIST finalized in 2024: → ML-KEM: shared-key establishment. → ML-DSA: lattice-based signatures. → SLH-DSA: hash-based signatures. Migration means larger signatures, higher verification costs and upgrades to wallets, contracts and validators. Cryptographic agility matters. PROJECTS TO WATCH 1. QRL ($QRL) — Uses XMSS, a hash-based quantum-resistant one-time signature scheme. 2. Algorand ($ALGO) — Uses FALCON for state proofs and account authorization; broader upgrades targeted by end-2027. 3. Starknet ($STRK) — Account abstraction enables custom signatures. An experimental quantum-resistant wallet transacted on mainnet in July 2026 (~$0.06). STARK proofs use hash-based assumptions, but not every component is quantum-safe. 4. QANplatform ($QANX) — Building lattice-based signatures and QAN XLINK for account migration. 5. Abelian ($ABEL) — Lattice-based cryptography with privacy features. 6. Nervos ($CKB) — Exploring alternative authentication and SPHINCS+-related approaches. 7. Project Eleven — Yellowpages aims to coordinate quantum-safe protection for bitcoin holdings without an immediate fork. 8. Ethereum — Targets quantum resistance across execution, consensus and data by December 2029. 9. Cardano — Exploring post-quantum integration, including Dilithium signatures. 10. Sui ($SUI) — Plans ML-DSA-65 accounts and SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s vaults; mainnet target Q1 2027, subject to audits. 11. Quantus — Post-quantum mainnet launched September 2026; QTC introduced in October. 12. Bitcoin — StarkWare’s experimental QSB enabled a quantum-safe mainnet transaction in August 2026. Optimization cut estimated compute cost $320→$67 (~79%); $67 was a benchmark, not a second transaction. QSB cannot protect coins with exposed public keys; a soft fork remains the broader fix. WHY NOW? Google Quantum AI’s March 2026 estimates put attacks on 256-bit elliptic-curve cryptography at fewer than 1,200–1,450 logical qubits. These are error-corrected, not today’s noisy physical qubits; this is theoretical, not a practical attack. WHERE’S THE OPPORTUNITY? Opportunities: quantum-safe wallets, migration, efficient verification, account abstraction, agility, custody and interoperability. Quantum resistance doesn’t guarantee token value. Watch deployment, audits, adoption and full-stack protection. RESEARCH WATCHLIST Quantum-focused: $QANX @QANplatform | $CELL @cellframenet | $QRL @QRLedger | $ABEL @PQabelian | $NAORIS @NaoXprotocol Established / other: $ALGO @Algorand | $XDC @XDCNetwork | $STRK @Starknet | $HBAR @hedera | $IOTA @iota | $CKB @NervosNetwork | $XNT @NeptunePrivacy | $ZEC @Zcash Also: @projecteleven, @ethereum, @Cardano_CF, @SuiNetwork, Quantus. Research watchlist: some have deployed components; others are still researching or planning. MY TAKE Quantum computing won’t break crypto tomorrow, but upgrading live networks takes years. Winners will prove security, practical migration and performance without sacrificing decentralization. Post-quantum cryptography may be quiet today, but decisions now could shape which networks are ready for the next generation.

$QRL for crypto ☝️
QUANTUM EARNINGS START THURSDAY. HERE’S EVERYTHING TO KNOW: $IONQ Nov 5: About $141M in revenue expected. It’s also the first report since DARPA moved IonQ into the final stage of its quantum benchmarking program. $QNT, Nov 5: $28–32M guided for 2026. Helios just hit near 99.999% logical fidelity. Watch for updates on Sol, its next system, due in 2027. $IQMX, Nov 5: €42–47M guided, mostly in Q4. Its first 150-qubit system decides whether it gets there. $PSQL, Nov 6: A business update. It just reached 1,024 atoms, watch how fast it turns them into usable qubits. $QUBT, Nov 9: About $7.6M expected. Watch its second chip fab, the core of its photonic foundry plan. $QBTS, Nov 10: About $4.4M expected, with most of 2026’s revenue due in Q4. Its 17-qubit gate-model system is due by year-end. $RGTI, Nov 10: About $3.7M expected. Its 108-qubit system is chasing 99.5% two-qubit fidelity, up from 99.1% in Q2. $HQ, Nov 10: Zero revenue last quarter. Watch its Beryllium programming language and the 256-qubit system planned for Dublin. $XNDU, Nov 11: $1.5M last quarter. It promised engineering guidance later this year, and this report is the likely moment. $INFQ, Nov 16: About $43M guided for 2026. It already showed 30 entangled logical qubits in September. Watch what comes next, and whether its $100M CHIPS Act deal gets finalized. Revenue tells you about today. The tech tells you who’s still standing in 2030. $INFQ $IONQ $QBTS

$450M OF BITCOIN IS GETTING SOLD, QUANTUM IS WHY. Nasdaq-listed Next Technology approved selling or pledging all 5,833 BTC, citing the $6.3B Binance hack and quantum risk to Bitcoin’s encryption. The hack was tied to North Korea. The quantum fear is about what's coming next.
SATOSHI'S BITCOIN IS DOOMED UNLESS HE COMES BACK ONLINE. Not all bitcoin is equally exposed to quantum. Modern addresses hide the public key until you spend, so your coins are safe until they move. Satoshi's coins weren't made that way, the earliest bitcoin used a format where the public key sits exposed on the blockchain forever. About 1.1 million BTC, worth almost $100 billion, untouched since 2010, keys visible to anyone. There are exactly two ways to protect a bitcoin from a quantum computer such as never exposing its public key, or move it to a quantum safe address. Satoshi's coins fail the first permanently and the second requires a signature from his private key. Nobody can migrate coins on someone else's behalf. So unless the person holding those keys logs on and moves them, the coins sit exposed until a machine can run Shor's algorithm at scale. Then whoever runs it derives the key and gets access to them as Satoshi. The clock has dates now, with IonQ's blueprint this month stating 20,000 qubits breaks Bitcoin's curve in 26 days, targeted for 2028. $BTC $IONQ $INFQ

A post-quantum wallet that never goes online. Latch, @QRLedger's new offline signer for QRL 2.0, is out as a team preview. Source: theqrl.org/weekly/2026-octob… In plain English: your key stays on a device with no internet. Transactions move to it by QR code or file. You review, then sign. Why it matters: QRL 2.0 signs with ML-DSA-87, NIST's post-quantum signature standard. Source: digitalguards.nl/blog/qrl2-p… That protects against a quantum computer forging signatures from an on-chain public key. It doesn't protect against a hacked laptop. Offline signing covers that gap. Where do your keys sign?

Huh, my $QRL will remain quantum-resistant even if AI or quantum computers break the ECDSA cryptography securing Bitcoin and other legacy cryptocurrencies. #Cryptography #Bitcoin #QDay
Yes. QRL never used ECDSA. Its mainnet has required XMSS (hash-based signatures) for every account since 2018. Shor’s algorithm breaks elliptic-curve discrete logs, not hash preimage resistance. QRL 2.0 switches to NIST-standardized ML-DSA-87 (lattice-based), also post-quantum. Your QRL keys stay safe against the attack the author describes.

Binance just lost $6.3B because one set of keys was compromised. Quantum computers won't need to compromise anything. They'll derive private keys from public ones, on every ECDSA chain, at once. No freeze. No bailout. $QRL: post-quantum since day one.

Initially, I thought quantum-resistant blockchains were mainly about protecting against quantum computers. But what if breakthroughs in classical algorithms could challenge today's cryptography too? A good time to take a closer look at Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL).

I used to see #QRL mainly as preparation for quantum computers. This research is a reminder that better classical algorithms could also challenge today’s cryptography. #CyberSecurity
Even ordinary computers can learn new tricks. 🐾 Better algorithms could challenge the maths behind cryptography, without quantum hardware. A conditional, theoretical result. No practical break demonstrated. github.com/bochum-crypto/sub… #cryptography #Qitty
