Calling somebody who acts like an actual person dealing w/ real struggles and consequences “slightly nicer Homelander” perfectly encapsulates where comic book fandom is rn.

Love the texture and clarity of this.
It’s very easy to have something like this be overwhelming and feel like it’s doing too much but this is a pretty balanced approach. The environment, silhouettes and action are all legible just by strictly utilizing contrast. Good stuff.

It takes the literal pieces of the story and combines them into a single mythological image. To resolve the story this must all come to light for what they are naked and blunt so our heroes can confront it head on. Only then can they unite and save the world.

Probably the most important shot in the film. Doomsday thematically embodies all of the threads that play out in the literal sense.
The trauma of the Black Zero Event/Zod, the govt’s negligence/inaction, Luthor’s hatred for Supes and desire to usurp him and Batman’s paranoia.

Been told for years that these movies are for chuds and fascists and people who hate everything good and (aside from Rebel Moon) it’s one of Snyder’s most openly human and optimistic works.

The only difference here between the two is a much more jingoistic centered design on the left. Both characterizations spiritually capture the essence of Wonder Woman as loving princess and warrior.
It does not need to be one or the other.

One day we’re gonna come to terms w/ just how negatively affecting the “black excellence” archetype can be as most stereotypical depictions of black people.
Both deny us humanity proper and the ability to truly ascend past one dimensional characterization.

The real complaint is where is his lack of urgency lol. Before Zod showed up Clark was excited to fly but he locked in when there was an active threat.
Brodie here tho was fiddling around while THIS was going on:

Really wish this was reinforced by the movie’s tone and the way the characters interact or discuss the Kaiju/Titans.
All of the ironic humor really ruins the vibe.

This movie was gonna be black af wasn’t it?

I don’t understand how people turned Batman being considerate here into a problem. Deadshot is the one who escalates the situation so why blame Bruce?

The DCU was always gonna have to work a little harder to prove itself w/ me given how WB treated all of its creatives w/ the last universe but I hoped it would win me over.
I am absolutely baffled by the quality and creative decisions it’s made since the transition.

I don’t understand ppl who don’t want Diana to act like a warrior. She’s quite literally a badass.

Y’all niggas really only care about Rotten Tomatoes. Every argument will always come down to that bc it’s the only win you can muster.
Also very funny to use the score for JL17 instead of the movie “Jack Snyder” actually made.

Remember when domestic studios spent a decade insisting monster movies needed quipping side characters and lighthearted comedy to keep general audiences from getting bored?
Godzilla Minus Zero just went pitch-black dark, R-rated, and fully subtitled and walked out with an A CinemaScore
The crazy part is people are debating whether the human plot stumbles this time around, but the IMAX kaiju destruction is so terrifying that audiences literally do not care
Hollywood needs to study this formula immediately.
‘GODZILLA MINUS ZERO’ debuts with an A on CinemaScore.
• A rare score for a non-English, R-rated film.
