Some of our 6th Form students delivered all the harvest donations to @Pecan121a @southwarkfoodbk in Peckham. They really enjoyed the visit and helped to sort all the food and were proud to support local community.

A huge thank you to @Kensingtonroyal who have donated to the recovery effort following the theft of £3k of food supplies from @southwarkfoodbk. All at @Pecan121a have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from across society. Food stocks are being replenished now ❤️

We didn’t have a good start to the week, but by the end it was very different. We have had an outpouring of kindness from our local and wider community. Lots of our members & users have been upset by the break-in and have also donated. So, a BIG thank you to all for helping us ♥️

I am deeply saddened by the recent robbery at Southwark Foodbank hub Pecan, which has impacted a vital community resource. I am in contact with Pecan CEO Peter Edwards and Soutwark BCU Commander Seb Adjei-Addoh about what support we can provide. Pecan oversees Peckham Pantry, women's services, employment support and does brilliant work through it’s community hub ‘Together’. This setback will not stop them but they need your help. I urge our community to rally behind Pecan, either by donating to replace the stolen items or by supporting their broader efforts. Thank you to Pecan and all who support them. Your work is essential, and we stand with you.

The report published today by the Institute for Fiscal Studies @TheIFS is clear. The least well-off have been hardest hit by inflation. Low-income households are paying 29.1% more for their food, compared with 23.5% for better-off households. This is one of the key drivers behind the shameful fact that 40% of children in Peckham are growing up in poverty. I visited the brilliant team at @Pecan121a to learn about their vital work on the frontline of the cost-of-living crisis. I am more determined than ever to bring an end to the need for foodbanks.
