Why is it that we (rightfully) call out art reposters who use "but I gave credit!" or "but this will give the artist more exposure!", but then turn around and use these same excuses for fic writers? This all just boils down to people not valuing fanfiction as much as fanart.

Like, I'm sure fic writers wouldn't care if you downloaded the fic for YOUR own private reading. Mass redistribution is a whole other thing, and I think people are purposely mixing the two to justify their entitlement.

what people can’t seem to grasp is authors publish on a03 because of the many protections a03 offers. we agree to those terms of service. other sites used for redistribution do not offer the same protections, especially not google drive.
