Can you use ChatGPT to help make ChatGPT more accessible? We asked the tool that very question, and wrote about what happened. Read the full article: intopia.digital/articles/usi… #a11y #ChatGPT #accessibility

Hey @OpenAtMicrosoft, if Microsoft does acquire Nuance, could you open-source the ETI-Eloquence text-to-speech engine that Nuance owns? It has some loyal fans in the blind community, despite being a dead code base, e.g. no 64-bit Android port. Would be good PR. cc @MSFTEnable

It would be good if @Microsoft doesn’t run #voice input/output to the ground. A good start would be if they do some active development on my favourite #TTS “ETI Eloquence”. #a11y

There's an evolutionary reason why we're afraid of the dark. Though we don’t technically need this fear, it's still there, and it's confusing. sciencealert.com/here-s-the-…

I think what distinguishes blind people from other stigmatized groups is that all people at all times, already in their childhood, have experienced the strong fear of not being able to see when it was dark. This experience is deeply engraved in the minds of many. 4/x

One of my favorite things is when the first thing out of someone's mouth is "Wow, your eyes are BEAUTIFUL!!!!" I want to say, "The better to see you with, my dear..." And then pop out my fake eyes. #AbledsAreWeird

If you aren’t comfortable around blind people, there probably aren’t enough of them in your life.

Haven’t contributed to #AbledsAreWeird - but here’s a little story.
A few years ago an acquaintance of my dad’s joined us at a restaurant table, and we got to talking disability. He, with a completely straight face, said:
“I think if I were blind I’d kill myself”.
To me.

3D Tactile map of the area of Kallithea. 1of the 48 tiles to be printed. 😀 😂 😂
Perhaps we shouldn't print all the buildings but only the points of interest. #print3D #ErasmusPlus

Having lots of fun @sensilab_monash #3Dprinting possible #tactile #map symbols. Do you have suggestions for more? Next step will be to put them in a bag and see what can be identified by touch.

After having answered questions from beginning #blind #programmers repeatedly for a while now, I have been confronted with how frighteningly little up-to-date info there is for this group. Considering writing up a couple #blog posts to fix this. Ideas welcome, sharing is caring

This is what a train station map should look like. Visual, audio, and Braille all available, with tactile tiles leading to it.
