This is like a fox developing means to protect the henhouse or a wolf recruiting the dogs to guard the sheep or the mafia running induction for police officers or the CFMEU selecting companies to build infrastructure … and so forth. Won’t end well. afr.com/technology/openai-to…

Just out of interest – the wheel was apparently invented by Carpathians and/or Sumerians. So it wasn’t the Brits or the Germans or any of those - they adopted it from elsewhere. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Our indigenous people also adopted it when it turned up.

Apply this to Australia.
*BRILLIANT* The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘_white, angry old man’s_’ advice to go back where they came from.*

the only rational response of the 90% of Australians being ripped off under the GST rort for Western Australia is to end the major party duopoly that backs it. the interests of the Labor, Liberal and Nationals MPs who back the rort are clearly at odds with those of their voters
Dignity, courtesy, fairness and respect – the basic pillars of the parliamentarian’s code of conduct. When Roger Cook calls highly qualified and capable public servants “Clowns” he is seeking to disparage people tasked with giving Govt frank advice.

A cartoon from Geoff Pryor from many years ago - the current #CommonWealthGame shows it hasn’t aged. Competing against drugs or pre-conceptions or mis-truths or chronic bad health is hard.

Worth repeating - The communications around the budget have been plainly bad. Good communications shows respect while bad communications shows something else. Here are some thoughts on that. strongs.biz/budget-communi…

Is the fact that this computer exists a good thing or a terrifying thing? Asking for a fiend. (Not a spello). ‘Colossus’ was built by xAI in Memphis - it uses 200,000 NVIDIA GPUs specifically to train advanced AI models like Grok.

Should economic mismanagement be a crime? No it can’t be as democracy can’t let that happen - but we need better ways to protect future generations from debts such as we have in the ACT & Victoria. strongs.biz/should-economic-… @SaulEslake @ChrisEconomist @SkyNewsAust @patrickdurkin

I want to put it out there that @ChrisEconomist is the Carl Sagan of economics. Explains it so it’s understandable and exciting! Excellent.

I don't mind talking to a robot if it's in a robot voice and clearly a robot. Talking to an AI generated cutesy pretend human voice is annoying.

Can't speak for others, but I've long called for higher rents and royalties. And I've never believed they should be profit-based. It should be a price-per-unit (ounce, barrel, etc), with a base price then a scaled increase as prices rise.

Even if the oil and gas tax structure was well-designed (it's not), here's the key fault: Australia only gets paid for *our* resources, if the company makes a profit. If it doesn't, we've given the oil and gas away *free*? In what sane world does that make sense?

The public service is at its best when it reflects the society it serves. Today, that society is more unequal across generations. If the APS fails to manage that shift, it risks becoming disconnected from the problems it is meant to solve. @themandarinau themandarin.com.au/311882-a-…
