Tiffany learned many valuable skills during her Army career, like teamwork, resilience, and discipline. 🇺🇸 But nothing prepared her for the PTSD that gripped her after she separated from service. In time she realized that she needed something in her life to give her daily purpose. 🙏 So Tiffany decided to adopt an always-there companion. A stray dog wandering the streets of Tacoma, Washington for weeks seemed an unlikely choice. 🐾 No one knew where he came from or had experienced in his still short life. But thanks to a Good Samaritan, he was rescued by @TacomaHumane where he waited for his hero. When Tiffany met Kojak she knew she found 'the one.' This would be the dog to get her outdoors every day, to help break the cycle of depression and anxiety all too common with PTSD. ☀️ The dog who would have a transformative impact on her wellbeing. “On the difficult days, his companionship reminds me that I’m never truly alone. He has brought laughter, comfort, and a sense of peace back into my home.” ☮️ Read their inspiring story here >> bit.ly/tiffany-kojak #yourarenotalone

“Let me tell you about Gerald. He farts, snores, hates baths, sometimes smells like a junkyard dog, and would protect me with his life. I have finally found peaceful sleep with him here. While I sleep, he guards the perimeter. If I have a nightmare, he nuzzles me awake.” Jennifer enlisted in the Marines to escape an abusive childhood. Her dreams were shattered when she learned, firsthand, the meaning of MST—military sexual trauma. A sense of peace eluded her. For years she suffered, never knowing the sense of security most people take for granted. One day Jennifer decided to adopt a dog who had been abandoned like yesterday's trash, his skin littered with sores and lesions. Broken, but still loving and in desperate need of love as well. Jennifer and Gerald both endured cruelty that no one should ever know. Now they're putting back together the pieces of once shattered lives. “I sleep soundly. That hasn’t happened since I was a teenager. There’s an improvement in my anxiety level and depression. I’m a happier person.” Read their story >> bit.ly/jennifer-gerald Thank you @hsschumane for this doubly lifesaving match, and for waiving adoption fees for our members. 💙

Greg retired after serving in the Air Force for more than 20 years. ✈ These days he's a hero of a different stripe, to not one, but two Pets for Patriots dogs. In 2021 he saved now 11 year-old Woody. Recently he welcomed 3 year-old Big Man to his pack. Both dogs were adopted through @PrinceGeorgesMD Animal Services, which waives adoption fees for our members and with whom we have 262 adoptions together. Talk about aiming high!

"We are doing great. The night I brought her home she stayed in my lap all night. When I went to bed she went with me and it's been that way every day. Had to get a loveseat because every time I got out of the recliner she made a mad dash for it. Now she stays in the loveseat with me full time. She's my permanent shadow. What a great find!... She is totally awesome, don't know how someone could have given her up. But I won, that's for sure. She's my velcro buddy." Great update from Eric, Army veteran, and his adoption to Gina. Thank you Roice-Hurst Humane Society for waiving fees for our adopters and for helping us make this heartwarming match. 💙 #army #adoptdontshop
