Congratulations to Greg Littleton, @PolkState District Board of Trustees Chair, who will be recognized with the 2026 James L. Wattenbarger Award at the upcoming Association of Florida Colleges’ Council of Trustees and Council of Presidents Joint Meeting in November. Selected by the presidents of the Florida College System, the James L. Wattenbarger Award is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual in recognition of their support for the @FLCollegeSystem.
It was an honor to nominate Chair Littleton for the prestigious James L. Wattenbarger Award. As a dedicated member of the Board for nearly two decades, he has guided Polk State through the expansion of its programs, campuses, and workforce mission. In the short time I’ve worked with Chair Littleton, I have come to appreciate his faith, thoughtfulness, work ethic, respect in the community, and dedication to his family. Polk State is tremendously blessed to have him serve as our Board Chair.

My daughters and I had a great time celebrating Sophomore Day today with the @Polk_Athletics soccer program!
We recognized 12 outgoing sophomores this afternoon. Come out and support these student-athletes as they host @MDCSHARKS on Monday in the regular season finale at 4 p.m. on our Lakeland Campus — #SoarEagles!
It was a pleasure to host South Florida State College President @Hawkins4florida at our Advanced Technology Center in Bartow.
Thank you to President Hawkins for his visit and partnership!
South Florida State College President @Hawkins4florida toured @PolkState’s Advanced Technology Center, where our expert faculty and staff showcased our Engineering Technology and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Production Specialist programs. We also had the opportunity to share about our AgriPolk initiative and future Welding and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) programs.
As @FLCollegeSystem presidents, we are committed to sharing best practices and exploring meaningful partnerships to support students, communities, and the State of Florida.
