JUST IN: The heroic bystander who took down a 16-year-old gunman during a deadly Oregon elementary school shooting has been identified as 36-year-old Kaylub Giamanco.
Giamanco, whose two daughters attend Silver Rail Elementary School, saw the suspect shoot at a truck before blasting through the glass panes of the school’s double doors to get inside.
Police say the teenager entered a classroom and fired as many as 15 rounds. Giamanco grabbed a legally owned .40-caliber pistol from his car and rushed into the building, following the sounds of gunfire.
When he reached the classroom, he found the suspect struggling with a teacher who had thrown her cellphone at the gunman and tackled him.
Giamanco then shot him multiple times, ending the attack.
Three children and a teacher were killed, while two others were injured.

Great morning on the mats with @SecMullinDHS and the DC National Guard. Inspiring to see the Secretary training alongside the men and women keeping DC and the Homeland safe. Experiences like this make us all better people and better professionals. 🇺🇸
This morning, I hit the mats with the D.C. National Guard’s Modern Combatives Program and @USCG for Brazilian jiu-jitsu training.
Their core focus is to build combat readiness, sharpen judgment under pressure, and strengthen the warrior ethos.
It was an honor to train alongside these men and women. Thank you for keeping D.C. and the Homeland safe.

Today should be Meadow's 27th birthday. Instead, she will forever be 18.
She was the princess of our family, spoiled with love and always protected by her older brother. She was my best friend, and we were there for each other through everything. I miss our daily conversations, and I miss her so much.
Happy birthday, Meadow. 💔
