i’m over the phrase “vibe coding" because it does a disservice to what's actually happening right now many people are building real products that could scale (not exactly ViBeS~) this is the start of a new class of serious, cash-flowing software companies

I did a 40 hr and then a 70 hr social media fast. I’ve come to believe that social media is pollution.  Not a vice or guilty pleasure. It’s closer to water toxins, air pollution and microplastics. Social media has been on my mind because I can feel how bad it is for me. For my health and agency. I am a professional rejuvenation athlete. For five years, I’ve engineered my life around biological renewal and the elimination of decay. After hundreds of experiments across food, sleep, exercise, therapies, and toxins, I’ve developed both data and intuition about what strengthens or degrades my system. I can viscerally feel that social media is bad for me.  It erodes my autonomy and increases cognitive entropy. Like other toxins, it accumulates. You can’t unsee or unfeel what you’ve consumed. It settles into mental tissue like heavy metals, producing chronic low-grade inflammation.  Evidence suggests even after you stop scrolling, attentional fragmentation and emotional priming persist. Your thoughts begin to mirror the algorithm’s incentives. Independent cognition quietly erodes and you don’t notice the loss. Time away and getting lost in deep focus is the only remedy. When something erodes your agency, the rational response is elimination. The problem is, elimination isn’t realistic. “Just put the phone down” is as practical as telling someone in 19th century London to stop breathing coal smoke. You need to know what’s happening in the world, be in touch with your friends and be part of the tribe. That necessity is what allows companies to harvest your emotions, intellect and time for their profit. You are their raw material they exploit. Then in an ironic twist, the system gets you to exploit yourself by engineering an environment where it takes more effort to stop than to continue scrolling.  Pollution exposure by default. What specifically makes social media toxic is that value and poison are inseparable by design.  You go to hear from friends and you leave an hour later absorbed in outrage that serves no biological interest of yours. The water is real. The lead is in the pipes. The performance metrics (likes, views, etc.) bleed you of independent thought. They create quantified social proof, triggering ancient hierarchy reflexes. You no longer evaluate signal from noise; the engagement metrics do it for you. Like all toxins, the damage is cumulative. We live inside the exposure long enough that it feels normal.  The 40 and 70 hour social media fasts did that for me. Gave me just enough separation to feel and diagnose the poison. The obviousness of it feels like when I went to India and saw their humanitarian crisis of air pollution which no one sees anymore. So what do we do? Neither platforms nor individuals are likely to change on their own. AI may be the countermeasure. An AI layer between you and the feed. Filtering rage, removing vanity metrics and translating sensationalism into calm, factual language. Preserving signal and eliminating noise. I want social media to become a longevity intervention, not a longevity threat. I never want to see the raw feed. I want an AI agent to read it for me, strip the engagement metrics that hijack my judgment, filter the rage, and return only what I actually came for. Every generation faces its pollutants. When cholera spread through London's water, the answer wasn't telling people to drink less. It was building filtration. The same logic applies here. Best next move is to design the filter to avoid being the raw material.

Dubai and Thailand might be the best combination most people aren't talking enough about. I've had friends move from UAE to Thailand, combine both, flip the order. All of them very happy. Also, Thailand under the DTV visa is one of the most livable setups in the world, but it needs an anchor. A stable tax residency to couple with: the UAE is perfect for that. Vice versa, if you're in Dubai, a few months in Thailand is a no-brainer: similar quality, lower costs, different network.
bangkok shouldn't be this good for this cheap i'm genuinely considering moving there to escape dubai summers. I did the math - rent goes down by 50-60% - a weekend of eating out < one dubai brunch - gym is 70-80% cheaper - timezone can be a bit challenging but manageable this feels too good to be true. what am I missing or where else should i be looking?

Don't delegate understanding There is a parasite, I see it everywhere. It consumes your health and wealth. It preys on ignorance and is easy to catch. It’s so common you may not even notice you have it. The parasite has a simple and attractive proposition: let me take care of this hard thing for you. Trust me, I know better. Instead of understanding it yourself, you choose to give the parasite control over your health, education, money, housing, business, identity, data, infrastructure, climate, justice. Even your beliefs. The parasite has three stages: acceptance, extraction, intervention. First is acceptance. Everyone else seems to have the parasite already. You are expected, even encouraged, to accept the parasite into your life. You are invited to follow the norm, outsource, consume. It’s okay! Use all the services and amenities. Satisfy your desires. Eat the cheap food, watch the cheap media. Your money and time are meant to be spent. Show off what you got in exchange. Please do not try to understand how it works, it’s too complicated for you. The parasite wants you fattened. Literally and figuratively. You are paying the parasite for the privilege of being ripened. Second is extraction. Under the influence of the parasite, you have developed unhealthy habits and you are suffering the consequences. Stress, anxiety, obesity, disease, ignorance, fear, lethargy, decay. To dampen these problems you pay the parasite for help — support, medicine, loans, fines, rent, taxes. Enforcement of some homeostasis. You try to abate the issues, but you don’t have a stable foundation to build on. You have ignored the root causes. The parasite thrives. You are paying the parasite to be harvested, milked, sucked dry. Third is intervention. The side effects of the parasite’s extraction have reached a critical level. The parasite tells you it’s an emergency. You need doctors, lawyers, firefighters, a military effort. You’re in a surgery room, a court room, a psychiatric ward, a jail cell. The disease can no longer be controlled, it has festered. The flame has turned into a raging fire that needs to be put out. You are paying the parasite to go back to square one. The three stages of the parasite are interdependent. Every stage benefits someone who is not you. Everyone tells you this is just the way it is. Never mind that the parasite is living large. Why? Extraction and intervention pay well. Education and prevention do not. The incentives are aligned to make the parasite persuasive. You are alone against a coordinated system that is exceedingly effective at packaging problems you should never have with solutions you should never need. A symbiotic loop. You must recognize the parasite in its earliest form. To inoculate yourself don’t delegate understanding. If you build your own understanding you will be the one who earns the dividends.

From AI to ZK. Artificial intelligence is the attack. Zero knowledge is the defense. AI takes advantage of the slightest slip. ZK does not let anything slip. AI decodes all the data. ZK encrypts all the data. AI is the surveillance state. ZK is the sovereign individual.

Even if you've completely fucked up your life until this point. Wrong degree. Wrong career. Wrong city. Years wasted. None of it matters anymore. AI is the great equalizer. Right now, today, a 45-year-old with no coding experience can build an app in a weekend. A single mom with a laptop can run a business that would've required 10 employees a year ago. A college dropout can learn in 2 hours what used to take a semester. Every path behind you is now closed (see image below). Stop focusing on them. Instead, look at the blue lines in front of you. There have never been more paths open to you than right now. Not at 18. Not even at 30. Right now Your past doesn't own you anymore. The only thing standing between you and a completely different life is one decision to start. You are alive at the exact right time. Act like it.

Nearly every ambitious person I know who has dived into AI is working harder than ever, and longer hours than ever. Fascinating dynamic tbh. I have NEVER worked this hard, nor had this much fun with work.

if you're good at what you do, you should reject the permanent underclass theory. here's why: ai does two things simultaneously makes you >1: it acts as a proprietary "means of production," allowing one person to handle the output of an entire team. this empowers individuals to operate as solo capitalists -- and get paid for outcomes rather than inputs (their time). equally, companies need <1: as ai automates routine cognitive work, companies no longer need W2, 40-hour-a-week humans for every role. they shift from buying "employees" to buying "outcomes," preferring to "rent" high-level, fractional expertise to reduce fixed costs. the outcome is: you are now in the movie industry. everyone is freelance and the best professionals will just work for multiple companies simultaneously. companies of one are simply the vehicle to achieve this + an investment vehicle to leverage your earned insights solo capitalist 2.0

Blockchains have always been and always will be tech for finance. Their core purpose is financialization. That’s why architecting a chain to protect unification of liquidity is more important than practically anything else. I am happy the misadventures around things like gaming in particular are fully dead and over. More broadly, I felt the “read write own” / web3 articulation was too skeuomorphic and, frankly, intellectually lazy to transpire because new tech is never as simple as putting something on a blockchain and voila. You have to create new markets. This narrative functioned more as a fig leaf for a reason to put VC dollars into more unnecessary infrastructure to rationalize a desire to create a private asset that could become magical internet money. The more folks that launched projects to attract price based on selling a narrative to the wild Wild West of internet liquidity, the harder the legitimizing narrative machine worked to ascribe value to all this as the third coming of apps - “all the stuff you do today, but now it pays you” In reality, the opportunity is immense, and bigger than our most creative minds can imagine, but not as it’s been articulated over the last few years. This blockchain adventure has always been about finance: open financial rails for anyone and everyone on the internet. This makes it newly possible for capital formation and internet formation to happen anywhere in the world, and for the ensuing innovation and progress to take hold. Open finance enables greater economic freedom and with it individual sovereignty and agency.
