Harshad hardly knows anyone in the industry who pays ₹2,000 a month for ChatGPT or Gemini, though the money is nothing to them. Most are on the free versions. To him, paying for them is sharpening your tools. aiiq.substack.com/p/aivey-po…

No developing country became developed without paying some sort of a cost.
Fuck this Chinese job market. Young people are getting absolutely fucked. No real opportunities, shit pay that barely covers rent, and you're expected to grind 996 like a dog. Overtime is mandatory, weekends are optional, and if you complain you get replaced by the next desperate grad. Everyone's killing each other for scraps. Involution is out of control — 300 people fighting for one mediocre position, then the winner gets paid like shit and worked to death. Graduates with master's degrees delivering food or sitting on their parents' couch. Companies treat you like disposable labor. No raises, no promotions, just more work and the constant threat of being laid off. The economy's trash, private sector is dying, and the only "stable" path is fighting millions for a government job that might not even exist by the time you get it. It's a fucking meat grinder. Opportunity? What opportunity. Just endless competition and poverty wages.

The US venture capital industry may take more technological risk not simply because its investors are more adventurous, but because its ecosystem provides better mechanisms for financing, evaluating, distributing and ultimately monetising that risk. chatgpt.com/share/6adf1263-d…
It's not just that Indian VCs tend to have far less risk-appetite than US VCs, which is frustrating but one can be charitable (straitjacketed by LPs, European and other geo VCs are similar). It's the delta of quality between US vs Indian VCs that makes founders lose respect. (n = 80, 65% US) 1. I can't think of any US VC interaction that went past 4 weeks and didn't lead to a check, most tend to say no quick. I can think of multiple (5+) Indian VCs that dragged things on with multiple calls and field visits, asking the same questions, then passed for inane reasons. The worst just ghosted us (happened at least 3 times) 2. Related - For our preseed/seed, US VCs often passed for not having conviction in idea/team. Indian VCs often passed for "lack of commercial traction". This is pissing off for anyone building in deeptech/bio and short-circuits how ambitious founders can be 3. While many great US VCs were never founders themselves, as others have noted, there are enough former-founder VCs + higher level of respect for what it takes to be in the trenches, that it reshapes cultural norms to be way more founder-friendly 4. Related - While there are many great Indian VCs, the proportion with partners/analysts who drip with arrogance is much higher than it should be. Every founder can tell you awful stories about the fresh-off-IIT/IIM analyst who thought they knew more about their tech/business from an hour of chatGPT. What does it tell about the funds that their hiring process leads to having such ppl gatekeeping their dealflow? 5. In general, being a founder in the US is higher status than being VC, the reverse seems true in India

@DKShivakumar

There are 15 Chinese universities in top 100. There are none from India and none expected to enter such a list. India doesn’t even have a single university in Asia’s top 50 list. subhashkak.medium.com/india-…

Reclassifications and ratings mostly record changes that prices have already reflected. Before reacting to one, an investor should ask how much selling came before it, whether the underlying problem is being fixed @rustapharian

The price of a basic bowl of rice and beef at the nation’s leading gyudon chain hit a high of ¥400 ($2.50 at current exchange rates) at the end of 1990 before falling. It only reached ¥400 again in 2021. archive.ph/TeYnG#selection-2…
