Nigel Farage is looking more and more like a really weird character from 'The Fast Show'.

It's possible that I'm missing something here, but surely this argument will only stand up when the UK no longer needs any fossil fuels.
Until then, they have to come from somewhere. How does importing them reduce our carbon emissions?
"Bears do not sh*t in the woods" says Nigel Farage, from a wood, while covered in bear sh*t.

If God exists, He/She/It is evidently f*cking useless.
We're on our own.

Tonight we're gonna party like it's 2017...
Just shy of 33% is a good result for the Greens (slightly above okay). North of 35% would have been very good.
But two things stand out: the very low turnout; and Labour getting a high 45% while LDs and Tories shrank back.
That indicates lots of tactical voting against Polanski. I suspect the Greens won in Somers Town (which they lost in May) but had reverses in most other places, especially the north of the constituency.
I don’t think losing by 3000 votes, or getting 33% should bother Polanski, but a bloc of voters mobilising to stop him probably should. It’s also clear the ground game in Holborn and St Pancras was nothing like Gorton & Denton. But, in truth, so much of that was powered by a deep, powerful disdain for Keir Starmer. It was extraordinary, really. I saw Labour *members* canvassing for Hannah Spencer.
Some puzzling features of this campaign: Polanski didn’t do much media, or innovate with social first content. You’d hear the refrain he’s canvassing instead. Great. But his comparative advantage is that stuff - and this was a young seat. Wouldn’t have made the difference, but a strange choice nonetheless.
Worth saying that, with this kind of performance nationally, the Greens would win circa 20 seats.
BUT it’s also clear they’ve lost momentum, and voters are increasingly likely to vote to STOP them than before. That could be an issue going forward.
1. Does someone give Helen Whately a biscuit every time she says "jobs tax"?
2. If NI is a "jobs tax", why did she vote to increase it in 2021?
@lbc
The kindest thing I can say about Jeffrey Archer is that he indirectly introduced me, via the TV adaptation of his novel 'Kane and Abel', to the great Sam Neill.
So I'll just say that.
I'd forgotten how f*cking stupid Mark Francois is.
Even Tom Swarbrick couldn't help laughing at him.
@lbc
If you're one of the #ISulkWithStarmer crowd, please do me a favour and block me now. You're becoming as tedious as the disgruntled Corbyn worshippers and frankly, I'm tired of your whining.
I've nothing against Starmer but he had his chance, and he blew it. Move on FFS.
The collective amnesia on the right is quite astonishing.
The UK's debt has not ballooned because of its welfare bill (which is fairly average in comparison with other similar countries) but because of huge unconditional furlough payments during the pandemic. By the Tories. 🤷♂️
🚨 Britain’s welfare state was built on contribution — not unlimited entitlement.
🗣️@timothy_stanley tells @CamillaTominey that proposals to take more people out of paying income tax, while increasing benefits, will fuel the “entitlement mentality”.
“It’s verging upon theft.”
Yet again, we are being nudged towards the idea that the non-wealthy people claiming benefits are ruining this country's economy - while also being asked to view the wealthy people claiming benefits as its saviours. xitter.cf/PrimeShade/status/2102…
A gentle reminder that Jim Ratcliffe was one of many very wealthy business owners who happily stuck their snouts in Boris Johnson's "generous" furlough trough but whine about being asked to chip in now the bill has landed.
'Wealth creators', my arse.

Donald Trump's UN speech is quite remarkable. How can someone who doesn't drink be that incoherent and boring?
